IT is hereby notified that I have granted exemption from Pilotage Charges at the Outer Anchorage at Bluff Harbour under the conditions of clauses [6 and 12] of the Harbour Regulations, as published in the New Zealand Gazette, of 2nd February, 1861, to the steamer Omega, so long as the said steam vessel continues under the command of Captain Gourlay.

IT is hereby notified that the following members of the Police Force have been appointed to act as Inspectors of Slaughter Houses in the undermentioned districts set opposite to their names respectively:
DACRE DISTRICT.
Sergeant Morton, Gore,
Constable Braken, Dacre.
Constable Butler, Invercargill.
CAMPBELLTOWN DISTRICT.
Sergeant O'Kane, Campbelltown.
Constable Borrin, Invercargill.
PROCLAMATION
By James A. R. Menzies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
WHEREAS it is provided by the Slaughter House Ordinance, 1847, that it shall be lawful for His Excellency the Governor, by proclamation, to constitute and define districts for the purpose of regulating the slaughter of cattle therein; and whereas all the powers conferred on His Excellency the Governor by the aforesaid Ordinance have been, by the Empowering Ordinance, 1854, conferred on the Superintendent in so far as such powers could be conferred on the Superintendent without repugnance to any of the provisions of the Constitution Act, and whereas it is expedient to constitute and define certain districts for the purposes of the Slaughter House Ordinance within the Province of Southland:
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries of the Invercargill district, as defined in the schedule to a Proclamation dated 15th day of April, 1863, and published in the Southland Provincial Government Gazette of 17th April, 1863:
Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the districts described in the Schedule following, shall be districts for the purpose of slaughtering cattle under the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance, and I further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation within the said districts on and after the Twentieth day of July, 1863.

SCHEDULE
INVERCARGILL DISTRICT. -- Bounded on the west by the esplanade of the New River Estuary; on the north by the Waipahi River; on the east by the west boundary of Block II, Invercargill Hundred, and by a right line extended therefrom southwards to cut the north boundary of the Campbelltown Hundred; on the south by the north boundary of the Campbelltown Hundred.
CAMPBELLTOWN DISTRICT. -- Bounded on the south and southwest by the ocean; on the west and northwest by the New River Estuary; on the north by the south boundary of the Invercargill Hundred; and by a right line, extending eastwards to the Mataura; on the east by the river Mataura.
DACRE DISTRICT. -- Bounded on the west by the Invercargill district; and the Oreti river; on the north-west and north by the Makarewa river to the junction of the Dipton river, thence by a right line to Ship Cone, thence by a right line to east peak of Hokanui; thence by a right line east to the Mataura river; on the east by the Mataura river; on the south by the Campbelltown district and the Oreti river.
