SOUTHLAND

PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PROCLAMATION

By James A. R. Menzies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

In pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf by the “Education Ordinance, 1862,” I hereby proclaim and declare that the district named and described in the schedule hereunder written, shall be an Educational District under the said Ordinance; and I do hereby further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation in the said district from and after the Twentieth day of July, 1863.

Given under my hand this ninth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

SCHEDULE.

Bounded on the east, by the Aparima River; on the south, by the Aparima Kina, and the estuary of the same; on the west, by the Pura River, and west boundary of Block XIII, Jacobs River Hundred; on the north and north-east, by the north boundary of the said Block XIII, by the west boundary and the south boundary of Block VIII of the said Hundred.

It is hereby notified that I have appointed

Freeman Jackson, Esq, J.P.,
to be a Visiting Justice of the Gaol, in the Province of Southland.

Southland, 8th July, 1863.

It is hereby notified that I have granted exemption from Pilotage Charges at the Port of Bluff Harbour under the conditions of clauses 10 and 12, of the Harbour Regulations, as published in the “New Zealand Gazette” of 22nd February, 1861, to the steamer Aldinga, so long as the said steam vessel continues under the command of Captain John Steuart.
