INVERCARGILL TOWN BOARD.

ELECTION OF FOUR MEMBERS.

IN pursuance of the Ordinances enacted by the Provincial Legislature of the Province of Otago, entitled, the "Dunedin Town Board Ordinance, 1855," and the "Port Chalmers and Invercargill Town Board Ordinance, 1859," I, the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for Members for the Town of Invercargill in the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, to assemble upon Saturday, the second day of May, ensuing, at noon, at the School-House, Invercargill, for the purpose of electing Four Members of the said Town Board in the room of Mesrs. L. K. Grant, H. B. Monkman, Wm. Lockhart, and Wm. Garthwaite, resigned:

And I hereby appoint Robert Mitchell, Esq., of Invercargill, Returning Officer to preside at the said Meeting, and in the event of a poll being demanded I hereby appoint the polling to take place in the Office of the Town Board on Monday, the Fourth day of May, 1863.

define districts for the purpose of regulating the slaughter of cattle therein; and whereas all the powers conferred on His Excellency the Governor by the aforesaid Ordinance have been, by the "Empowering Ordinance, 1864," conferred on the Superintendent, in so far as such powers could be conferred on the Superintendent without repugnance to any of the provisions of the "Constitution Act;", and whereas it is expedient to constitute and define certain districts for the purposes of the "Slaughter-House Ordinance" within the Province of Southland;

Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Districts described in the Schedule following shall be Districts for the purpose of Slaughtering Cattle under the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance; and I further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation within the said Districts on and after the first day of June, 1863.

SCHEDULE.

INVERCARGILL DISTRICT

Bounded on the West by the Estuary of the Waihopai; on the North by the Waihopai River; on the East by the west boundary of Block II., Invercargill Hundred; on the South by a right line drawn from the south-west corner of section 72, Block II., to the south-east corner of section 9, Block III., and thence by a right line due west to the Estuary.

RIVERTON DISTRICT

Bounded by a line beginning at the Estuary of Aparima, and running along the north-west boundary of the Maori Reserve to its north point: thence by a right line to the bridge over the Aparima; thence by the river and estuary to section 27, Block I., Jacob’s River Hundred; thence by a right line south-west to the ocean; thence by the ocean and Estuary of Aparima to the west point of the Maori Reserve before-mentioned.
