INVERCARGILL JETTY.

NOTICE.

Superintendent's Office,
Southland, 14th March, 1863.

IT is hereby notified that Clauses 5 and 6 of the Jetty Regulations published in the Southland Gazette, 13th August, 1862, are hereby revoked, and the following mode of levying dues substituted in lieu thereof, viz.:

  1. On all goods landed at the Jetty there shall be payable 2s. 6d. per ton, measurement or dead weight, this charge including wharfage fees.

  2. In order to provide for the proper collection and payment of the above charges, a survey account shall be furnished by every agent of any vessel arriving at or leaving the Port of Invercargill, to the Provincial Treasurer, within three days of the arrival or departure of such vessel, of all tonnage, either of weight or measurement shipped in such vessel, together with the name of each consignee and the weight payable by such consignee; and the freight on every parcel so consigned shall be liable upon such list, either by weight or measurement, as the case shall be. The amount of every vessel leaving the Port of Invercargill shall be held liable and shall pay all charges as above levitable upon any goods represented in such vessel.

All monies levied under these regulations must be paid regularly on the Monday of each week, at the Treasury, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the receipt of the Treasurer shall be a full discharge for such liability.

These Regulations shall come into force on Friday, the 20th day of March, instant.

NOTICE is hereby given that a warehouse has been appointed at Mr. Kenneth MacIvor's building, belonging to Mr. Kenneth MacIvor, situated on Section 21, Block XI., Town of Invercargill, Agreed duly approved and appointed in accordance with Section XL of "Customs' Regulation Act, 1858," to be a warehouse for the securing of goods under bond for the payment of Duties of Customs.

INVERCARGILL TOWN BOARD.

Robert Mitchell, Returning Officer appointed by his Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, to preside at a meeting of the Electors entitled to vote for Members for the Town of Invercargill in the Provincial Council of the said Province, assembled on Monday, the 2nd March, at 12 o'clock at noon, at the Courthouse, Invercargill, for the purpose of electing two fit persons to be Members of the Town Board of Invercargill, hereby certify that the following persons were duly elected by a majority of votes:

  • Henry Boyle Monkman
  • William Lockerbie

I HEREBY certify that Richard Denniston of Invercargill, in the Province of Southland, having this day, in terms of an Ordinance passed by the Legislative Council of New Munster, Session I, No. 2, of 1849, entitled "An Ordinance to define the qualifications, and to prescribe the remuneration, in certain cases, of Medical Practitioners," submitted for examination his Diploma admitting him a Member of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dated at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Invercargill, this 26th day of February, 1863.
