PROCLAMATION

By Matthew Scott, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

WHEREAS by the 12th Section of the "Education Ordinance, 1862," of the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, it is enacted that the Province shall be divided into Educational Districts, each of a radius not exceeding four miles, every such district to be proclaimed by the Superintendent from time to time by notice published in the Provincial Government Gazette, whenever the necessity arises for the establishment of a School within such district, or otherwise as he may see fit; and every such proclamation shall define the boundaries of every Educational District thereby proclaimed:

And whereas it is expedient to proclaim the District hereafter described. Now, therefore, I, the Deputy Superintendent, in pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the district named in the Schedule hereunder written, the boundaries of which are therein set forth, shall be an Educational District under the said in part recited Ordinance. And I do hereby further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation in the said district from and after the fourteenth day of August One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this 11th day of August One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTH RIVERTON DISTRICT.
Jacob’s River Hundred.

Commencing on the Coast at Howell’s Point, thence by the line of the Coast to the entrance of the Aparima Estuary, thence by the Southern shore of the Aparima Estuary to the Government Reserve, Section 18, Block 1; thence by the line between Sections 17 and 18, to the South-west boundary of said Reserve; thence by a line due South to the Coast, thence by the line of the Coast to Howell’s Point.


PROCLAMATION

By Matthew Scott, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and in the second session of the said Provincial Council, intituled “An Ordinance to establish and regulate Bridges and Ferries,” it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to authorise Ferries to be established at convenient places on the rivers, lakes, or other waters within the Province of Southland, for the conveyance of passengers, animals, and goods across the same; and every Ferry shall bear the Ferry within the meaning of this Ordinance which shall be proclaimed to be such by the Superintendent by notification in the Provincial Government Gazette: And whereas the Ferry hereinafter mentioned has been for some time past in use, and whereas it is expedient
