PROCLAMATION.
By James A. R. Menzies, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled the "Superintendent’s Deputy Act, 1858," it is enacted, inter alia, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province to appoint such person as he may think fit, being a registered elector in such Province, to be his Deputy, who as such shall perform and exercise all the acts and powers (except such powers as are conferred by the Constitution Act, 15 and 16 Vic., c. 72,) which may be exercised and performed by such Superintendent; and that the acts of such Deputy-Superintendent shall be as effectual in all respects as if authorised by the Superintendent himself.
And whereas I am about to attend the Meeting of the General Assembly, and it is therefore necessary that I should appoint a registered elector to be my Deputy, to act during my absence, as provided by the said Act.
Now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, do hereby appoint Matthew Foster Esquire, to be my Deputy, and as such to perform and exercise during my absence from this Province, all the several powers (except such powers as are conferred by the Constitution Act, 15 and 16 Vic., c. 72,) which may be performed and exercised by me.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this twenty-third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

INVERCARGILL TOWN BOARD.
ELECTION OF ONE MEMBER.
WHEREAS a notice published in the Southland Provincial Government Gazette, dated June 19th, 1862, announcing the vacancy, John June current, for the election of one member of the Town Board of Invercargill, Matthews Point Road, was appointed to act as Returning Officer at the said election; it is hereby notified that the said appointment of Returning Officer is cancelled, and I hereby appoint Robert Gilchrist, Esq., of Invercargill, Returning Officer for the said election.

PROCLAMATION.
By Mathew Storry, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
WHEREAS by Ordinance passed by the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of Her Majesty, Queen Victoria, and in the second session of the said Provincial Council intituled "An Ordinance to establish and regulate Bridges and Ferries" it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to authorise Ferries to be established at convenient places on the rivers, harbours, or other waters within the Province of Southland, for the conveyance of passengers, animals, and goods across the same; and every Ferry shall be a public Ferry within the meaning of this Ordinance which shall be proclaimed to be such by the Superintendent by notification in the Provincial Government Gazette; and whereas it is expedient to establish the Ferry hereinafter mentioned: Now, therefore I, the said Deputy Superintendent, do hereby proclaim the Ferry at Bluff to be a public Ferry.
