PROCLAMATION
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by section 7 of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1874,” it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, upon the recommendation of the Provincial Council of the said Province, from time to time, by proclamation in the Gazette, to alter the boundaries of any road district, and either to enlarge or diminish the area thereof; also to increase or diminish the number of subdivisions of any road district, and to alter the boundaries and to increase or diminish the area of any subdivision or subdivisions of any road district, notwithstanding that any district or any subdivision or subdivisions of any district may already have been constituted by the said Ordinance or by any proclamation thereunder:
And whereas by the “Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,” it is enacted that until the day next after the last day of the first session of the next or sixth Parliament of New Zealand all powers, duties, and functions which immediately before the passing of the said Act were under or by virtue of any law vested in or to be exercised or performed by the Superintendent of any Province, on the recommendation of the Provincial Council of such Province, under any law or Ordinance for the time being in force, shall be exercised by the Superintendent, with the consent of the Governor in Council: And whereas the Superintendent of the Province of Otago has recommended to his Excellency the Governor in Council to alter the boundaries of the Waiarika, Kakanui, Waitaki, and Awamoko Road Districts, and the number and boundaries of the subdivisions thereof, and his Excellency the Governor in Council has given his consent to this proclamation, and to the alterations aforesaid: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby, with the consent of his Excellency the Governor in Council, and in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority enabling me in this behalf, proclaim and declare that the boundaries of the Waiarika, Kakanui, Waitaki, and Awamoko Road Districts, and the number and boundaries of the subdivisions thereof, are hereby altered, and shall be respectively as follows:—
WAIARIKA ROAD DISTRICT
Is bounded towards the north by a road line commencing at the north-eastern corner of section 58 block IV Awamoko Survey District and running through blocks IV V and VI said district and its continuation through blocks I and II Maruwenua and blocks XI and X Kauroo Survey District to the western boundary of the Kakanui Hundred towards the west by the said western boundary of the Kakanui Hundred towards the south by the northern boundary of block VIII and part of V Kauroo Survey District; as far as the north-eastern corner of said section 4 of said block V towards the east and south-east by section i block IV Kauroo again towards the west by other part of section i block IV Kauroo again towards the south by block II and again towards the west by other part of block II Kauroo and again towards the south by part of block X and blocks IX and V and part of section i block IV Oamaru to a stream thence by said stream to the Main North Road thence by the said road to the eastern boundary of section 32 and by a road line being the eastern boundary of said section 32 and section 31 block IV Oamaru thence by the south south-west and western boundary of the Waitaki Road District to the north-eastern corner of section 58 block IV Awamoko Survey District the point of commencement.
SUBDIVISIONS OF THE WAIAREKA ROAD DISTRICT.
WINDSOR SUBDIVISION
Is bounded towards the north north-east and east by a road line running through blocks VI V and IV Awamoko District and the Papakaio Subdivision of the Waitaki Road District towards the south and west by the Oamaru and Kauroo Survey Districts and towards the north and north-west by the continuation of said road line through blocks II and I Marawenua Survey District.
TENERAKI SUBDIVISION
Is bounded on the north by the Awamoko Survey District on the west by the Waiareka stream on the south by block V and part of section I block IV Oamaru Survey District on the south-west by the Awamoko stream to the Main North Road on the south by the Main North Road and on the east by the town of Oamaru and the Oamaru stream.
