PROCLAMATION
By His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by section eight of the “Municipal Corporations Acts Amendment Act, 1871,” it is provided that with regard to any city, town, or place within the Province of Otago incorporated under the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” and the “Otago Municipal Corporations Empowering Act, 1865,” and that whether incorporate at or after the time of the passing of the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” the Superintendent of the Province of Otago may exercise the power conferred on such Superintendent by the 39th section of the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” to declare that any complete parts of the several parts of the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” numbered from II. to XXII., both inclusive, shall extend and apply to such city, town, or place: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, do hereby, in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Acts, and of every other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, proclaim and declare that from and after the date hereof the complete parts of the several parts of the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” numbered respectively XII., XIII., XVIII., XIX., XX., XXI., and XXII., shall extend and be applied to the Municipality of Tapanui.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the said Province, at Dunedin, this 30th day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

NOTICE
INCORPORATED TOWN OF EAST INVERCARGILL
WHEREAS by the 28th section of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” it is provided that no person elected to be Mayor, Councillor, or Auditor under the said Ordinance shall be capable of acting as such until he shall first, in the presence of any two Councillors, have made and subscribed the declaration therein set forth: Provided that at the first elections under the said Ordinance, whether for the City of Dunedin or for any other incorporated town or place, such declaration shall be made and subscribed before a person to be appointed for that purpose by the Superintendent of Otago:
And whereas it is necessary that a person should be appointed before whom such declaration shall be made and subscribed by the persons elected as Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors respectively, for the Incorporated Town of East Invercargill, at the first elections for the said town under the said Ordinance:
And whereas Joseph Stock, of East Invercargill, Esquire, was appointed to be the person before whom such declaration should be taken and subscribed by the persons elected as Mayor, Councillors and Auditors respectively for the Incorporated Town of Invercargill at the first election for the said town:
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers vested in me in this behalf, withdraw and rescind the appointment of the said Joseph Stock to take such declaration as aforesaid, and I do hereby appoint Mr. Henry McCulloch as and to be the person before whom the person elected as Mayor at the first election under the said Ordinance for the said Incorporated Town of East Invercargill shall make and subscribe the declaration specified in the said 28th section of the said Ordinance.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.
