Provincial Appointments and Notices




Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865," and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby appoint the persons hereinafter mentioned to be the persons before whom shall be held (within the respective wards of the Incorporated Town of North Invercargill set opposite their names) the polling at the elections under the said Ordinance of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors for the said incorporated town, and to do within the said respective wards set opposite their names, at such first elections, all such acts as by the said Ordinance are required to be done by a Councillor or other person appointed to preside at the polling at elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors.

NOTICE.

INCORPORATED TOWN OF NORTH INVERCARGILL.

WHEREAS by the 28th section of the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865," it is provided that no person elected to be Mayor, Councillor, or Auditor under the said Ordinance shall be capable of acting as such until he shall first, in the presence of any two Councillors, have made and subscribed the "declaration therein set forth": Provided that at the first elections under the said Ordinance, whether for the City of Dunedin or for any incorporated town or place, such declaration shall be made and subscribed before a person to be appointed for that purpose by the Superintendent of Otago:

And whereas it is necessary that a person should be appointed before whom such declaration shall be made and subscribed by the persons elected as Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors respectively, for the Incorporated Town of North Invercargill, at the first elections for the said town under the said Ordinance:

Now, therefore, I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby in pursuance of the power in this behalf vested in me by the said Ordinance, appoint

MAGNUS FLAUS, of North Invercargill, Esquire,

as and to be the person before whom the persons elected as Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors respectively, at the first elections under the said Ordinance for the said Incorporated Town of North Invercargill, shall make and subscribe the declaration specified in the said twenty-eighth section of the said Ordinance.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago aforesaid, at Dunedin, this 19th day of September, 1876.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by Section 7 of the "Oamaru Harbour Ordinance, 1874," it is provided that so often as any person being a member of the Oamaru Harbour Board, otherwise than as Mayor of Oamaru, shall be absent from the Province of Otago for the space of six consecutive calendar months, it shall be the duty of the Superintendent to appoint by Proclamation in the "Otago Provincial Government Gazette" another fit and proper person to be a Member of the said Board in the room of the person so being absent as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby under and by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the said Ordinance, and of every other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, proclaim and appoint

MR. ALFRED JAMES SAMUEL MADLAND,

of Oamaru, to be a member of the said board in the room of the Honorable Henry John Miller, who has been absent from the Colony for the space of six consecutive calendar months.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this 19th day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.
