Town of North Invercargill, with respective modifications
is set opposite the numbers of the Sections,
and by the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1875," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Superintendent of Otago, with the advice of his
Executive Council, on the petition of not less than
fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders
resident in any township, or any two or more townships,
distant not more than two miles from a common

Invercargill."
Section Twenty-eight...
Instead of the words "a City of Dunedin," in this Section the
words "the Incorporated Town of North Invercargill."
Section Ninety-eight...
Instead of the words "one hundred thousand pounds" in this
Section, the words "ten thousand pounds."
Third Schedule
Boundaries of the Incorporated town of North Invercargill as delineated on the record maps of the
said town, deposited in the Lands Registry Office, in
Invercargill, in the said Province.
All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago,
containing by admeasurement 226a. 0r. 07p., more or
less, being Sections 31, 1 of 32 and 2 of 32 of Block I
on the record map of the Invercargill Hundred, com-
prising the private townships of Clinton, Charleston,
and Mitchelltown, bounded on the east by section 34
of said block, 2000 links; on the north by said section
34, 971 links; towards the north-east by section 6 of
said block, 975 links; towards the south-east by sec-
tions 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 of said block, 6640 links, and
by a public road 106 links on the west by the Park
Reserve, being section 22 of said block, and by section
23 of said block, 5095 links, and on the north by
section 33 of said block, and by a public road 5000
links.
Fourth Schedule
North Ward
Comprises all that area in the said Municipality of
North Invercargill lying to the north of the centre of
Bourke-street, running through the private township of
Mitchelltown from east to west.
Fifth Schedule
South Ward
Comprises all that area in the said Municipality of
North Invercargill, lying to the south of the centre of
Bourke-street, running through the private township of
Mitchelltown from east to west.

Proclamation
Of the Municipality of East Invercargill.
By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-
Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province
of Otago, intituled "An Ordinance to amend the
Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,"
and by the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1875," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Superintendent of Otago, with the advice of his
Executive Council, on the petition of not less than
fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders
resident in any township, or any two or more townships,
distant not more than two miles from a common
centre within the Province, to extend the provisions
of the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance,
1865," to such township or townships, by such name
or incorporation as he shall deem fit, and notwithstanding
that such township, or in the case of two townships,
either or both of them is or are included in a Road
District, with such modification as to the names and
numbers of the members of such proposed Corporation,
and the office-bearers thereof, and any other municipal
matters and regulations as shall seem to such Super-
intendent and his Executive Council suitable for the
area and population of such Municipality; and in
accordance with such petition as aforesaid, shall define
the boundaries of the Municipality so created, and
declare the number of Wards into which such Munici-
pality may be divided, and define the boundaries of
such Wards respectively, and declare which of the
provisions of the said Ordinance shall be applicable to
and within the limits of such Municipality: And
whereas a petition of not less than fifty persons, com-
prising a majority of the householders resident in the
townships of McMaster’s Estate, Sylvan Bank and
Barwheys Estate, in the said Province of Otago, has
been presented to me, George Turnbull, as Deputy-
Superintendent of the said Province, praying that the
provisions of the "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance, 1865," may be extended to the said town-
ships: Now therefore I, George Turnbull, Deputy-
Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice
of my Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authority vested in me in this behalf,
do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after
the day of the date hereof the provisions of the said
"Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,"
specified in the first schedule hereto, shall extend to
the said townships of McMaster’s Estate, Sylvan Bank
and Barwheys Estate by and under the name of the
Corporation of the Town of East Invercargill,
and shall be applicable to and within the Muni-
cipality hereby created. And I do, with the
like advice of my said Executive Council, pro-
claim and declare that such of the said provisions as
are contained in the sections of the said last-mentioned
Ordinance, specified in the first column of the second
schedule hereto, shall extend to the said township,
and be applicable to the Municipality hereby created,
with and subject to the respective modifications con-
tained herein, and in the second column of the second
schedule hereto: And I hereby, with the advice of
my said Executive Council, proclaim and declare that
the boundaries of the Municipality hereby created
shall be those specified in the third schedule hereto.
And I do hereby, with the advice of my said Executive
Council, declare that the said Municipality hereby
created shall be divided into two wards, to be known
respectively as East Ward and West Ward, and that
the boundaries of the said wards shall be those respec-
tively defined in the fourth schedule hereto.
First Schedule
The Sections of the "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance, 1865," containing the provisions of the
said Ordinance, extended to and applicable within the
Incorporated Town of East Invercargill, that is to say,
Sections numbered 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22,
23, 24, 25, 36; Sections numbered 29 to 97 both in-
clusive; Sections numbered 99 to 113 both inclusive;
and Sections numbered 116 to 125 respectively; and
also the Sections in the various amendment ordinances
substituted for Sections 18, 27 and 78 repealed.
