THIRD SCHEDULE.

Boundaries of the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill as delineated on the record maps of the said town, deposited in the Lands Registry Office, in Dunedin, in the said Province.

II that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement twenty-five (25) acres two (2) roods and seven (7) poles more or less, situate in the Upper Kaikorai District, and comprising the private Townships of Murrayville, Wil. Hamstown, and McLennan’s Sub-division, being parts of sections numbered 13, 14, and 155R, block I, and 8, 9, 155R, block II, on the map of the said district. Bounded towards the north-west by a line extending along the centre of the Maori Hill Road eight hundred and forty-three (843) links; towards the south-west by part of the said Maori Hill Road thirty (30) links, and by part of section numbered 9 four hundred and twenty-one (421) links; again towards the north-west by part of section numbered 7 eight hundred and fifty (850) links; thence in a south-easterly direction by the outside boundary line of Well-street and the Maori Hill Road one thousand and forty (1040) links, two hundred (200) links, and thirty (30) links; and two hundred and forty (240) links; thence in a south-westerly direction by a line, being the north-west boundary of the Dunedin Town Belt, nine hundred and forty-seven (947) links; thence in a north-westerly direction by a line two hundred and eighty-seven (287) links, two hundred and sixty-seven (267) links, and eighty-five (85) links; thence again in a south-westerly direction by a line eight hundred and twenty-one (821) links; and again in a north-westerly direction by a line, being the north-eastern boundary of section numbered 12, one thousand and forty-five (1045) links, and by part of the Maori Hill Road thirty-one (31) links to starting point, be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Comprises all the remaining portion of the said Township.

PROCLAMATION

Appointing a day for the First Election of a Citizen to be Mayor of the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865, Amendment Ordinance, 1870,” it is amongst other things provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent at any time after any Municipality shall have been proclaimed under the provisions of the Ordinance instituted “An Ordinance to amend the Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” by proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago, to appoint a day for the first election of a citizen to be Mayor of such Municipality. And whereas the town of Maori Hill has been proclaimed a Municipality under the provisions of the said Ordinance, and it is expedient to appoint a day for the first election of a citizen to be Mayor of the said Municipality of Maori Hill.

Now, therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim and declare that I have appointed, and do hereby appoint Wednesday, the 17th day of May, 1876, as and to be the day for the first election of a citizen to be Mayor of the Municipality of Maori Hill.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this 9th day of May, 1876.

WARRANT

Appointing an officer to preside at the First Elections to be held under the Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865, for the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill, in the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Town of Maori Hill has been Incorporated under the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865.” And whereas by the 113th section of the said Ordinance it is, amongst other things, enacted, that where no special provision is made for the conduct of the first elections under the said Ordinance, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by warrant under his hand, to appoint some fit and proper person to preside at each of such elections: Now, therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said “Otago Municipal Corporation Ordinance, 1865,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby nominate and appoint

to preside at the first elections of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors to be held under the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” for the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill, in the Province of Otago.

As witness my hand, this 9th day of May, 1876.

NOTICE

Of day and place of Nomination of Candidates for the office of Mayor of the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill.

WHEREAS James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865” has, by warrant under his hand, appointed me the undersigned, John Campbell, to be the person to give public notice, as by law required, of the place, day, and hour for the nomination of candidates for election to the office of Mayor, at the first election of Mayor for the Incorporated Town of Maori Hill, under the said Ordinance; and to attend on the day of the nomination of candidates for such office at such first election, and to preside, do, and perform at such first election all the acts by the said Ordinance required or directed to be done by the Mayor of the said Incorporated Town of Maori Hill at the election of Mayor:

Now, therefore I, the said John Campbell, notify that Wednesday, the seventeenth day of May, 1876, at noon, at the School-house, Maori Hill, in the said Incorporated Town of Maori Hill, have been appointed as the day, hour, and place for the nomination of candidates for election to the office of Mayor of the said Incorporated Town of Maori Hill, at the ensuing election; and I do hereby give notice that I shall attend at the said place, and at the day and time hereinbefore mentioned, and shall then cause to be publicly opened and read, all such nominations of candidates for election to the office of Mayor of the said Incorporated Town, as shall be in due form, and shall have been lodged with Mr. Peter Pilkington, the person appointed by His Honor the Superintendent to act as Town Clerk at such election, at his office, before noon, of the said seventeenth day of May, 1876.
