APPORTIONMENT OF STOCK IN HUNDREDS
IN TERMS OF CLAUSE 15, “OTAGO WASTE LAND ACT, 1872,” FOR 1876.
THE Depasturing Licensees in the undermentioned Hundreds will be entitled to run stock to the number mentioned in the following list on payment of assessment, in addition to the stock already allotted as per statement of returns published in accordance with clause 3 of the “Otago Waste Land Act, 1872.”

Cattle within the Hundred, or any person duly authorised by him, may drive such cattle for the purpose of collecting such as may belong to him, and for the legitimate use of his right of pasturage within the Hundred; but in case it should be necessary for such purpose to drive any cattle belonging to any other person to a greater distance than half-a-mile, the person so driving such cattle must separate his own cattle from those of other persons, and return the latter to the place from whence they were driven.

The number of small cattle that shall be allowed to be depastured on the waste lands adjoining the Township of Wyndham shall not exceed sixty head.

Every person offending against any of the foregoing bye-laws shall forfeit any sum not exceeding five pounds for every such offence.

BYE-LAWS OF MOERAKI HUNDRED FOR 1876.

One head of great cattle to be allowed for every twenty (20) acres owned or occupied; no small cattle to be depastured on the Hundred.

Residents in the Township of Hampden who have taken out licenses to be allowed to depasture one head of great cattle for every acre, or part of an acre of township land owned or occupied. No cattle or sheep being driven from one district to another will be allowed to depasture on the unenclosed lands of the Township of Hampden.

Whenever it shall appear to the Wardens or a majority of them that any beast of a dangerous or vicious character, or from any other cause they may deem it advisable to prohibit any such beast from depasturing on the Hundred, and no entire animal over the age of six months, excepting horses, and no entire horses over the age of twelve months, shall be depastured on the Hundred without the consent in writing of the Wardens or a majority of them.

Any person disturbing, driving, or harassing cattle depastured within the boundaries of the Hundred without a written authority from one or more of the Wardens. In the event of it being necessary to drive any cattle belonging to any other person a greater distance than half a mile, the person so driving such cattle must take them to the nearest available stockyard, and there separate his own from those of other persons, and return the latter to the Hundred.

Any persons offending against the above Bye-laws shall be liable to a penalty of any sum not exceeding five pounds (£5).

All or any of the acts authorised by these Bye-laws to be done by a Warden or Wardens may be done by any Ranger or other person duly appointed by them, or authorised in their behalf.

MOKARETA HUNDRED.
REGULATIONS agreed to by Wardens, 29th February, 1876:—

The number of cattle to be allowed to be depastured on the Mokareta Hundred in 1876 shall be not more than fifty head of great cattle, or two hundred and fifty head of small cattle.

Every license-holder shall be entitled to depasture one head of great cattle on the waste land within the Hundred in 1876, for any acreage of land which he may own or occupy up to three hundred acres, and one additional head of great cattle for every additional three hundred acres that he may own or occupy.

No small cattle shall be allowed to be depastured on the waste lands adjoining the Township of Wyndham except as provided by the bye-laws.

MOKARETA HUNDRED.
BYE-LAWS agreed to by Wardens 29th February, 1876:—

No person shall bring any cattle to the Mokareta Hundred to be depastured thereon, nor shall any person remove any cattle therefrom without giving at least one day’s notice of his intention so to do to a Warden; but this bye-law shall not apply to persons driving cattle through the Hundred unless such cattle shall have continued upon the Hundred for a longer period than twenty-four hours.

No person shall disturb or harass cattle lawfully depasturing upon the Hundred, provided always that any person holding a license to depasture.
