PUBLIC LIBRARIES.
A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a Public Library, are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of obtaining the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.
Printed Catalogues of books, and other information, will be furnished on application.

EXAMINATION OF TEACHERS.
EXAMINATIONS of Pupil Teachers and Teachers, and for Candidates of employment as such, will be held at Dunedin, Oamaru, Invercargill, Milton, Queenstown, and Lawrence, and other places, upon Tuesday and Wednesday, the 21st and 22nd of December, 1875. All persons intending to attend the examinations will please send me notice before the 10th December, 1875. Teachers who desire to be examined for a Certificate must send me notice of their intention, mentioning the division, and the alternate subjects they mean to take up.

OAMARU GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
SCHOOLMISTRESS WANTED.
APPLICATIONS are invited, up to the 30th of November, for the situation of Infant Schoolmistress—salary, £115 per annum. Applicants must be prepared to enter on their duties on 15th January, 1876.

Sandymount Subdivision, on Monday, the 27th December, at Mr Peter Carmichael\'s, from 9 to 10 a.m.; Mr Archibald M\'Kay\'s, from 11 to 12; Mr Joseph Anderson\'s, from 1 to 2 p.m.; Mr George Boyle\'s, from 3 to 4 p.m.
Broadbay Subdivision, on Tuesday, the 28th December, at Mr William Allan\'s, Portobello Road, from 9 to 10 a.m.; Mr William Anderson\'s, Broadbay, from 11 to 12; Mr George Anderson\'s, Broadbay, from 1 to 2 p.m.

TENDERS will be received for the following Works:—
No. 8.—Supplying 300 cubic yards of 2½in. Metal and other Repairs on No. 5 Road, Pine Hill.
No. 9.—Supplying about 135 cubic yards of 3in. Road Metal and other Repairs on New Road, Pine Hill.
No. 10.—Forming a Footpath 6ft. wide, and building two Culverts at Rothesay Township.
No. 11.—Supplying about 50 cubic yards of 3in. Road Metal, and other Repairs at Ravensbourne.
Specifications and Tender forms for Nos. 8 and 9, at Cattle Market Hotel, North East Valley, and for Nos. 10 and 11, at Mr Bacon\'s Boot Shop, Octagon.
Tenders can be left at the Valley School-house, on or before the 11th December, at 2 p.m., and the lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
The work at Ravensbourne and Rothesay will be shown on Wednesday, the 8th December, at 10.30 a.m.

TUTURAU ROAD DISTRICT.
NOTICE is hereby Given, that the Tuturau Road Board intend, at their meeting on Saturday, the 15th January, 1876, to levy a special rate of 3d. in the £, on all rateable property within the Waikana Subdivision, for the year ending 30th June, 1876.
A statement of the proposed rate will be open for inspection on and after the 1st of January, 1876, at the store of Messrs M\'Gibbon and Sons, Mataura.
Objections to the rate must be lodged, in writing, with the undersigned, within forty days from the date of this notice.
