Ida), Palmerston, Waitahuna, Port Molyneux, Pleasant River, Arrowtown, Cromwell, East Clutha, Waitepeka, Inch Clutha, Kaitangata, Switzers, Teviot, Waipori, Invercargill, Long Bush, Wallace-town, Campbelltown, Woodlands, Waianiva, Flint's Bush, Myross Bush, Winton, Gummie's Bush, Ore Tree Point, Riverton, Waikivi, Outram, Kensington, Forbury, Mosgiel, Wairuna, Clinton, and Havelock.

The householders, in the following-mentioned localities respectively, in which schools have been established or authorised, are advised to meet in the school-house or buildings used as a school-house, of their respective districts on the aforesaid Monday, the 12th day of January, 1875, at 7 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of electing School Committees for the ensuing year, viz.:—Moa Flat, Hamilton, Sowburn, St. Bathans, Blue Spur, Wetherstones, Otakia, Popotunoa, Taieri Beach, Awamoko, Macraes, Stoney Creek, Tapanui, Upper Harbor West, Lower Harbor, Whare Flat, Blacks, Te Houka, Waivera, Merton, Waieka, Mimihau, Hyde, Wangoloa, Lower Shotover, Moeraki, Macetown, Glenore, South Akatore, South Bridge, Cardrona, Kakanui, Sawyer's Bay, Highcliffe, Tuapeka Mouth, Thompson's (Drybread and Tinkers) Tatura, Taieri Ferry, Greytown, Tuakito, Albertown (Wanaka), Sandymount, Mount Cargill, Nokomai, Papakaio, Pukeuri, Kuri Bush, Adam's Flat, Shag Valley, Clarke's Flat, Upper Kyeburn, Lower Kyeburn, Inch Valley, Purakanui, Evan's Flat, Dunkeld (Beaumont), Walton, Manuka Creek, Forest Hill, Mabel Bush, Grove Bush, Groper's Bush, Limestone Plains, Orepuki, Oreti, Wild Bush, Welshman's, Millar's Flat, Owake Flat, Clifton, Ahuriri Flat, Kingston, Kawarau Gorge, Bannockburn, Blackstone Hill, Marewhenua, Edendale, Mataura Bridge, Brighton, Beaconsfield Coast, Oteramika, Tuapeka Flat, Fortrose, Steward's Island, Ida Valley, Maheno, Roslin Bush, Waikaia, and Hill-end.

"Extract from Section XIV of the Education Ordinance, 1864."

"On the second Monday in the month of January in each year, a public meeting of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in every Educational district, being male persons above twenty-one years of age, shall be held at a time and place to be fixed by the Secretary of the Board, and notified by public advertisement at least one month previously, and in such other manner as the Board shall direct, and in such meeting a Chairman shall be chosen and the School Committee for the preceding year shall give a full report of their proceedings, and thereupon the electors present shall proceed to elect, either by show of hands or by ballot, as shall be determined by the said meeting, a new School Committee for the ensuing year of not less than five, nor more than nine persons possessing the qualifications prescribed by clause 13, and may re-elect all, or any of the persons going out of office, to be members of such new Committee, and every Committee so to be appointed shall hold office until the appointment of their successors."

PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a Public Library, are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of obtaining the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.

Printed Catalogues of books, and other information will be furnished on application.

EXAMINATION OF TEACHERS.

EXAMINATIONS of Pupil Teachers and Teachers, and for Candidates for employment as such, will be held at Dunedin, and other places, upon Tuesday and Wednesday, the 21st and 22nd of December, 1875. All persons intending to attend the examinations will please send me notice before the 10th December, 1875. Teachers who desire to be examined for a Certificate must send me notice of their intention, mentioning the division, and the alternate subjects they may take to take up.

SCHOOL APPOINTMENTS.

THE Education Board invites applications for the following appointments in the Normal School:—

Second Master, salary £275.
Assistant-Master, £175.
Schoolmistress, £175.
Assistant-Schoolmistress £125.
Janitor, £120.

OAMARU GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

SCHOOLMISTRESS WANTED.

APPLICATIONS are invited, up to the 30th of November, for the situation of Infant Schoolmistress—salary, £115 per annum. Applicants must be prepared to enter on their duties on 15th January, 1876.

A SCHOOLMASTER is required for the newly established School at Fortrose. Salary: £60, school fees, residence, and ten acres glebe. Thirty pupils guaranteed. Preference will be given to a married man, whose wife, or himself, would undertake to instruct children whose parents may desire it in vocal and instrumental music; for which extra remuneration will be given. Duties to commence at the expiration of the Christmas vacation.

SCHOOLMASTER Wanted for North Hillend School. Salary, £75, with School Fees, and comfortable dwelling-house, with 10 acres of glebe, nearly all broken up. Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged at the Education Office, on or before the 27th November.

TEACHER wanted for the newly established School at Fairfax. Salary: £75, and School Fees, less ten cent. The probable number of pupils will be from 60 to 70. A four-roomed residence, and five acres of glebe, fenced and in grass.

Duties to commence on 1st January, 1876.

Applications, with testimonials, will be received until the 1st December.
