NOTICE.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that an application, under the 47th, &c., sections of the "Otago Waste Land Act, 1872, has been received from Francis Woodhouse, for section 5, block III, Teviot District, and that Tuesday, the 16th November next is the day appointed for deciding such application, if unopposed, and notifying the objections (if any).

PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a Public Library, are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of obtaining the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.

Printed Catalogues of books, and other information, will be furnished on application.

EXAMINATION OF TEACHERS.

EXAMINATIONS of Pupil Teachers and Teachers, and for Candidates for employment as such, will be held at Dunedin, and other places, upon Tuesday and Wednesday, the 21st and 22nd of December, 1875. All persons intending to attend the examinations will please send me notice before the 10th December, 1875. Teachers who desire to be examined for a Certificate must send me notice of their intention, mentioning the division, and the alternate subjects they mean to take up.

OAMARU GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

SCHOOLMISTRESS WANTED.

APPLICATIONS are invited, up to the 30th of November, for the situation of Infant Schoolmistress—salary, £115 per annum. Applicants must be prepared to enter on their duties on 15th January, 1876.

A SCHOOLMASTER is required for the newly established School at Fortrose. Salary: £60, school fees, residence, and ten acres glebe. Thirty pupils guaranteed. Preference will be given to a married man, whose wife, or himself, would undertake to instruct children whose parents may desire it in vocal and instrumental music; for which extra remuneration will be given. Duties to commence at the expiration of the Christmas vacation.

TEACHER WANTED for the Oreti School, Southland. Salary—Government allowance of £60, and School Fees, with good residence, and ten acres of good land fenced in and broken up.

TEACHER Wanted for the Waiwera Side School. Salary: Government allowance and School Fees, with comfortable four-roomed residence, garden, and ten acres of glebe fenced in.

SCHOOLMASTER Wanted for North Hillend School. Salary, £75, with School Fees, and comfortable dwelling-house, with 10 acres of glebe, nearly all broken up. Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged at the Education Office, on or before the 27th November.

TEACHER wanted for the newly established School at Fairfax. Salary: £75, and School Fees, less ten cent. The probable number of pupils will be from 60 to 70. A four-roomed residence, and five acres of glebe, fenced in and grass.

Duties to commence on 1st January, 1876.

Applications, with testimonials, will be received until the 1st December.

TEACHER WANTED for the Moa Flat School. Salary—Government allowance, and School Fees amounting to £120, with good 4-roomed house and glebe. Applications to be lodged with the undersigned not later than the 14th December.

A SCHOOLMASTER Wanted for the Manuka Creek School. Salary: £75 and School Fees. A newly-erected residence of Six Rooms, and 10 acres of School glebe. The average daily attendance for the last nine months has been 42, and could be greatly increased. Preference will be given to one whose wife or sister can teach sewing.

Applications, with testimonials, will be received until 26th November, 1875.

WANTED, for the Kaikorai District School, a second Mistress. Government allowance and School Fees, not less than £90 a-year.

NOTICE.

THE North Taieri Road Board intend, at their meeting on Monday, 6th December, to make a general rate of One Shilling in the £ on the full nett annual value of all rateable property within the District for the Year ending 30th June, 1876.

A statement of the proposed rate is open for inspection at the School-house, Mosgiel. Objections, if any, to the rate must be lodged with me, in writing, within 30 days from that date of this notice.

Objections to be decided at said meeting, Monday, 6th December, at half-past 7 p.m.
