PROCLAMATION
Setting apart 6920 Acres of Land in the Forest Hill Hundred, for occupation on deferred payments.
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS by the 47th section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, to set apart in any part of the Province, districts or blocks of land within which licenses to occupy land and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted either exclusively or within which the land shall be open for license or lease on deferred payment.
And whereas the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of the said Province to set apart the lands hereinafter specified for alienation on deferred payment :
Now therefore I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council as aforesaid, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by "The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," and of every or any power in this behalf enabling me, proclaim, declare, and set apart all that area containing by estimation 6920 acres, more or less, in the Forest Hill Hundred, within which the land shall be open for license or lease as aforesaid; and I do further by virtue of the aforesaid powers proclaim and declare that all that parcel of land containing 6920 acres, more or less, in the Forest Hill Hundred, bounded on the north by section 129, 118 chains; on the north-east by sections 48, 153, 118, 161, 218, 216, Makariwa River, section 214, and again by Makariwa River; on the south by section 149, Otipiri Stream, section 179, and a public road running from section 179 to section 10; and on the west by sections 10, 106, public road, sections 219, 123, Otipiri Stream, sections 124, 113 and 101, Forest Hill Hundred, excepting out of the land herein described section 208, as delineated on the map of the said Hundred, will be open on a date to be hereafter specified for application for license and lease, on deferred payment, as provided in the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872."
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this seventeenth day of August, 1875.
