The foregoing Regulations were made and passed by
the Council of the City of Dunedin, at a meeting held on
Wednesday, the 22nd day of July, 1874.

No. 15.
A Regulation made under the authority of section 1, sub-
division 1, part 8, of Schedule 13 of "The Municipa
Corporations Act, 1867" (as adopted by Bye-law No.
2 of the Council of the City of Dunedin, made on the
18th day of November, 1868), and entitled a "Regu-
lation for appointing limits within which it shall not
be lawful to keep any swine.
From and after the date upon which the Regulation
hereinafter made shall come into operation, Regulation
No. 12 of the Council of the City of Dunedin, on
the 20th day of August, 1873, for appointing limits within
which it shall not be lawful to keep any swine, shall be,
and the same is hereby, repealed.
It shall not be lawful to keep any swine in or upon any
part of the City of Dunedin, or within the following
limits or boundaries, that is to say:β
Within all that area known as the Town and Town
Belt of Dunedin, the boundaries whereof are
delineated on the "Index Map of the Otago
Settlement," No. 80, deposited in the Survey
Office of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin afore-
said, together with all that area land in the Pro-
vince of Otago adjacent and opposite to the
City of Dunedin, formerly below high water
mark, in the Harbor of Otago but now reclaimed
or in course of reclamation, from the sea, and
declared by the "Otago Harbor Trust Leas-
ing Ordinance 1862" to be included within the
City of Dunedin, as the said area and boun-
daries thereof are delineated or shown in the
Crown Grant Index Record Map of the Subur-
ban Districts Central No. 2, deposited in the
Survey Office of the said Province, at Dune-
din aforesaid, which said area above described is
coloured yellow on the map deposited in the
office of the Town Clerk, and bearing the signa-
ture of the said Town Clerk to a memorandum
written thereon referring to this Regulation.
The foregoing Regulation was made and passed by the
Council of the City of Dunedin, at an ordinary meeting
held on Wednesday, the 14th day of October, 1874.

No. 16.
A Regulation of the Council of the City of Dunedin made
under the authority of section 48, subdivision 1, part
8 of Schedule 13, of "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867" and entitled a Regulation for fixing the
Standings of Hackney Carriages and of Borough Stage
Carriages in certain cases, and the mode in which any
such carriages are to stand thereon, and for other
purposes; also for fixing the rates or fares for
Hackney Carriages and Borough Stage Carriages, in
certain cases.
From and after the date upon which the Regulation
hereinafter made shall come into operation, so much of
Regulation No. 1 of the Council of the City of Dunedin,
made on the 23rd June, 1869, and so much of Regulation
No. 13 of the said Council, made on the 3rd September,
1873, as conflict with the Regulation hereinafter made,
shall be, and the same are hereby, repealed.
STANDINGS.
All Hackney Carriages and Borough Stage Carriages
plying between Dunedin and Caversham or any inter-
mediate stage, shall, when waiting in the City of
Dunedin for hire, be ranked in a single line on East side
of Princes street, between the North building line of
Liverpool street, and the South building line of Water
street, parallel with and at a distance of eight feet from
the line of the kerbstone with the horses' heads pointing
towards the South.
All hackney carriages and borough stage carriages ply-
ing between the northern and central portions, or be-
tween the northern and other portions of the City, or
intermediate stage, shall, when waiting in the central
portion of the City for hire, be ranked in a single line on
the south-east side of High-street, commencing at the
intersection of the south-east side of High-street with the
east side of Princes-street, continuing so far as the Custom
west side of the porch of H.M. Custom House Building
(at this point a vacant space of eight (8) lineal feet shall
be left, in order to allow free access to the Custom
House;) commencing again at the north-east side of the
porch, and continuing to the intersection of the south-
east side of High-street with the west side of Bond-street
(at this point a clear space of ten (10) lineal feet shall be
left in order to allow of uninterrupted traffic to the rail-
way station and other places), and thence along the west
side of Bond-street between High and Water streets ter-
minating at the north side of Water-street.
The Standing shall be throughout its whole length,
parallel with and at a distance of three feet from the line
of the kerbstone, with the horse's head in High-street
pointing to the south-west, and in Bond-street towards
the north.
When the south-west corner of Princes and Rattray
streets is vacant, the hackney or other carriage which has
been longest in the rank, shall move to the spot above
indicated, in order to take up passengers; but no hackney
or other carriage shall remain there longer than five (5)
minutes in any case, and so soon as two (2) six-penny
(6d.) fares or passengers offer for the carriage to the Custom
or other carriage standing at the corner above indicated,
then such hackney or other carriage shall forthwith pro-
ceed on the route to the Water of Leith Toll Bar, Great
King-street, North Dunedin, by way of George, Frederick,
and Great King streets, without waiting for any additional
passengers.
All hackney carriages and borough stage carriages
plying between the northern and central, or between the
northern and any other portions of the city, or any inter-
mediate stage shall, when waiting at the northern portion
of the city for hire, be ranked in a single line on the north
side of Duke-street, between the east side of Great King
street, and the west side of Cumberland street at a dis-
tance of three (3) feet from the line of kerbing, with the
horses' heads pointing towards the west.
FARES.
The only authorised fare for conveying any two (2) or
more passengers by any licensed hackney or borough
stage carriage to or from the railway station,
and the Water of Leith toll bar, or any intermediate
stage, by way of George, Frederick, and Great King
streets, to or from the Princess theatre, High street,
and the Water of Leith Toll bar, or any intermediate
stage, by way of George, Frederick, and Great King
streets, shall be sixpence (6d.) for each passenger.
The only authorised fare for conveying any passenger
by any licensed hackney or borough stage
carriage, to or from the Railway Station at High street,
from or to Caversham, by way of Princes street south, or
to or from the Princess Theatre, High street, from or to
Caversham, by way of Princes street south, shall be six-
pence (6d.) for each passenger; provided always that the
driver of any licensed hackney carriage or Borough
stage carriage shall be obliged to proceed on the
route to or from the Railway Station or to Caver-
sham, to or from the Princess Theatre from or to
Caversham, until four (4) sixpenny (6d.) fares, or a sum
of two shillings (2s.) be tendered him.
The provisions of this regulation shall not be con-
strued as altering the fares prescribed by Regulations
Nos. 9 and 13 of the said Council, in respect of single
sixpenny (6d.) fares to or from the Central Cab Stand
from or to the Water of Leith Toll Bar or to or from the
Central Cab Stand from or to Caversham.
