cil of the City of Dunedin, this 11th day of October,
1871.

No. 12.
A regulation made by the Council of the City of Dunedin,
under the authority of section 1, subdivision 1, part 8,
of schedule 13, of the "Municipal Corporations Act
1867," (as adopted by Bye-law No. 2 of the Council of
the City of Dunedin, made on the 11th day of Nov-
ember, 1868). For appointing limits within which it
shall not be lawful to keep any swine.
From and after the date upon which the Regulation
hereinafter made shall come into operation, Regulation
No. 7, of the Council of the City of Dunedin, made on
23rd June, 1869, for appointing limits within which it
shall not be lawful to keep any swine, shall be and the
same is hereby repealed.
It shall not be lawful to keep any swine in or upon any
part of that portion or those portions of the City of
Dunedin which is or are included within the following
limits or boundaries, that is to say:-
On the West, the East building line of Maitland-
street, and the production of the said line towards the
North until it shall intersect with the production of the
Northern boundary line of block II., City of Dunedin.
On the North and North-West, the Town Belt of
Dunedin. On the North-East, the South-West
building line of Dundas-street, and the production of the
said line towards the North-West until it shall intersect
with the Western boundary line of block XIX., City of
Dunedin.
On the North-East, by the Town Belt of Dunedin and
Otago Harbor, which said portion or portions of the City
of Dunedin hereinbefore described are colored yellow on
the Map deposited in the office of the Town Clerk, and
bearing the signature of the said Town Clerk to a
memorandum written thereon referring to this Regula-
tion.
The foregoing Regulation was made by the Council of
the City of Dunedin, this 20th day of August, 1873.

No. 13.
A regulation made by the Council of the City of Dunedin
under the authority of section 48, subdivision 1, part
10, of schedule 13, of the "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867" for fixing the rates or fares for Hackney
Carriages or Borough Stage Carriages in certain
cases.
From and after the date upon which the Regulation
hereinafter made shall come into operation, Regulation
No. XI, of the City of Dunedin, made on the 11th day of
October, 1871, shall be, and the same is hereby re-
pealed.
The only authorised fare for conveying any passenger
by any licensed Hackney Carriage or Borough
Stage Carriage, from the corner or stand or rank
mentioned or referred to in subsection 9, of
Regulation No. 9, of the Council of the City of
Dunedin, made on the 23rd day of June, 1869,
or any intermediate stage to the Water of Leith
Toll Bar, or the reverse (by the way of George
street, Frederick street, and Great King street),
shall be (6d.) sixpence.

This Regulation shall be incorporated with and read as
part of Regulation No. 9, of the Council of the said City,
made on the 23rd June, 1869.
The foregoing Regulation was made by the Council of
the City of Dunedin, this 3rd day of September, 1873.

BUILDING REGULATIONS.
No. 14.
Regulations made by the Council of the City of Dunedin
under the authority of Subdivision 1, part V.
of Schedule 13 of the "Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867."
(Part V. of Schedule 13 as above was adopted by Bye-law
No. 6, as made and passed by the Council of the said
City, on the 23rd day of February, 1870.)
From and after the date upon which the Regulations
hereinafter made shall come into operation, the
Building Regulations of the said Council, made on
the 13th day of April, 1870, under the authority of
Part V. of Schedule 13 of the said Act, shall be, and
the same are hereby repealed.

For the purpose of making a distinction (in certain
localities, and under certain conditions) in the applica-
tion of such of the following Regulations as apply to
the construction of external walls, the City of Dunedin
shall be divided into two parts, denominated respectively
the Inner Area and the Outer Area.
The Inner Area shall comprise all that portion of the
City of Dunedin distinguished by a blue color on a map
deposited in the office of the Town Clerk, signed by him,
and sealed with the Corporation Seal, and any land now
or that may be hereafter reclaimed from the Dunedin
Harbour, and that may lie between the Stuart Street
Jetty or the production of its Southern line and the
Anderson\'s Bay Road.
The Outer Area shall comprise all the remaining part
of the City of Dunedin, as the boundaries thereof shall be
fixed by lawful authority from time to time.

The following Regulations shall apply to, and be enforced
in every part of the City of Dunedin, whether within
the said Inner Area or Outer Area, as the boun-
daries of the said City shall be fixed by lawful au-
thority from time to time :-

  1. Every building already erected, or that may be
    hereafter erected, in the said City, whether such building
    be built upon new or old foundations, or upon foundations
    partly old and partly new, or whether such building be
    an addition to any building already erected, or which
    may be hereafter erected, shall be subject to the control
    and supervision of the City Council, and shall be erected,
    added to, altered, renewed, or repaired, in accordance
    with the following regulations.

Plans, &c., to be Submitted.
2. Before beginning to erect any building, or to alter,
add to, or renew any building already erected, or which
may be hereafter erected, or to execute any other work
placed under the control and supervision of the City
Council in these Regulations, the builder, owner, or occu-
pier shall submit to the Building Surveyor the plans and
specifications of the contemplated work for his inspection,
and shall give such further particulars to the Surveyor
as he may require; and no work placed under the con-
trol and supervision of the City Council in these Regula-
tions shall be commenced until the Surveyor has certified
that the plans and specifications thereof are in accordance
with these Regulations.

Non-combustible Roofs.
3. It shall not be lawful to cover the exterior of the
roof, flat, or gutter of any building, or any erection on the
roof or flat of any building, whether such building be al-
ready erected or hereafter erected, with boardling,
shingles, or other combustible material.
