And whereas the Provincial Council of the Province
of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of
the said Province to set apart the lands hereinafter
specified for alienation on deferred payments:
Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the
advice and consent of the Provincial Council as afore-
said, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the
powers conferred upon me by "The Otago Waste
Lands Act, 1872," and of every or any power in this
behalf enabling me, proclaim, declare, and set apart
all that district called Blocks VII., VIII., and IX.,
Crookston, and Block IX., Greenvale, as a District
within which the land shall be open for license or
lease as aforesaid, or for sale on immediate payment;
and I do further by virtue of the aforesaid powers
proclaim and declare that those sections numbered
respectively 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 16, Block
VII., Crookston ; sections 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15,
16, 17, 20, 22, and 25, Block VIII., Crookston ; sec-
tions 1, 3, 5 and 6, Block IX., Crookston ; and sec-
tions 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 15, 16, and 17, Block IX.,
Greenvale, on the map of the said Districts, will be
open on the 6th day of July, 1875, for application for
license and lease on deferred payment, as provided in
the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872.
Given under my hand, and issued under the
public seal of the Province of Otago, this
15th day of May, 1875.

NOTICE.
In the matter of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act,
1871," and of an order made by the Makarewa Road
Board for opening up of roads.
UNDER and by virtue of the provisions of section
thirty-three of the "Highway Boards Empower-
ing Act, 1871," I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of
the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint and fix Tuesday,
the 15th day of June, at the hour of noon, at the Superin-
tendent's office, in the Provincial Government Buildings,
at Dunedin, as and to be the time and place for taking
into consideration an order made by the Makarewa Road
Board, on the 3rd day of April 1875, and published in
the Otago Provincial Government Gazette, No. 956, on
the 14th day of April, 1875.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields
Act, 1866," and to the Regulations made under that
Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of
1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold
mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is here-
by notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold
mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant speci-
fied in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged
with the Warden at Queenstown, on or before the 28th
day of May, 1875.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may
be seen at the Warden's Office at Queenstown.
Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 12th day
of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

August Sovenson, on behalf of the Last Chance Co.,
for 10 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be
found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of
the applicants, situated at Skipper's Point.

to be Inspectors of slaughter-houses and of cattle intended

NOTICE.
LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
PERSONS desirous of selecting Land, either for im-
mediate purchase or for occupation on deferred
payments, or under the Agricultural Lease Regulations,
will, on application to Mr. Short, at the Land Office,
Dunedin, be supplied with all the information they may
require as to what land is open for sale or occupation,
and the terms upon which it may be acquired.
Mr. Short will shew maps of the land, and assist pur-
chasers or selectors in making the necessary applications.

8th June, for—
Contract, No. 1033.—Construction of Stone and Tim-
ber bridge over Waimumu River, on road Ma-
taura Bridge to Invercargill.
Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of
tender obtained, at the Office of the Engineer of Roads
and Works, Dunedin, and at the Police Camp, Mataura
Bridge.
Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works Tender for
Contract No. 1033."
The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest
or any tender.
JACOB'S RIVER HUNDRED.
THE following license holders in the Jacob's River
Hundred have been elected Wardens for the cur-
rent year :—
