PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act, and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Cromwell, on or before the 7th day of May, 1875.

Copy of the application made and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden's office, at Cromwell.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 30th day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

SCHEDULE.

Charles Colclough, on behalf of the Central Quartz Mining Company, for 16 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at the north of Logan's 2nd lease, and abutting on Lucknow Company's 2nd lease.

In the matter of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," and of an order made by the Aparima Road Board for opening up a road.

UNDER and by virtue of the provisions of section thirty-three of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint and fix Friday, the ninth day of April, 1875, at the hour of twelve noon, at the Superintendent's office, in the Provincial Government Buildings, at Dunedin, as and to be the time and place for taking into consideration an Order made by the Aparima Road Board, on the 13th day of February, 1875, and published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette, No. 949, on the 24th day of February, 1875.

Provincial Compulsory Lands Taking Act, 1866.

NOTICE is hereby given, that it is intended to introduce a Bill into the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago at its next Session, authorising the Superintendent of the Province of Otago to take, compulsorily, for the purpose of making roads in the District of Portobello, parts of Sections numbered respectively twenty-two (22) and twenty-eight (28), Block numbered five (V.), Portobello District, and in the District of Papakaio, part of land sold under application numbered 2229, Block numbered IV., on the map of the Papakaio District: And notice is hereby further given that a copy of the Bill so intended to be introduced as aforesaid, may be inspected at the office of the Clerk of the Provincial Council, on and after the seventeenth day of April next.

Dated at Dunedin, this eleventh day of March, 1875.

FRESH TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 13th April, 1875, for—

Contract Nos. 7, 8, and 9.—Maintenance of Road, Dunedin to East Taieri Bridge, between 14th and 22nd mile posts.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin.

Tenders to be endorsed "Tender for Contract Nos. 7, 8, or 9," as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
