Fixing Sittings of District Court, Otago Gold Fields.

Normanby, Governor.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of the Otago Gold Fields, during the months of April and May next, shall be held as follows:—

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Naseby on the second Wednesday in April next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Clyde on the Monday next after the second Wednesday in April next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Queenstown on the Monday second after the second Wednesday in April next.

In the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Lawrence on the second Tuesday in May next.

Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the first day thereafter, not being a holiday.

Issued this sixteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

Appointment of Member of Central Board of Health, Otago.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint William Brown, Esq., M.B., to be a Member of the Central Board of Health of Otago, in the room of Professor M’Gregor, resigned.

The provisions of “The Foreign Seamen’s Act, 1860,” have been made applicable to the Masters, Seamen, and Ships of the following countries, viz.:—

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of February, 1875.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

Whereas certain lines of railway, as described in the First Schedule hereunder, have, under the provisions of “The Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870,” and other Acts, been constructed by the Governor in the Province of Otago: And whereas an agreement has been made between the Governor and the Superintendent of Otago, whereby the Governor has granted the right to work and maintain the said lines of railway to the Superintendent of the said Province: And whereas the Superintendent of the said Province has, in exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, made the tolls, fares, and charges for passengers, animals, carriages, goods, merchandise, minerals, articles, and things:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby make, approve of, allow, and fix the tolls, fares, and charges for passengers, animals, carriages, goods, merchandise, minerals, articles, and things enumerated in the Second Schedule hereunder, for the said lines of railway mentioned in the said First Schedule.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

Invercargill to Mataura—Woodlands Section.

Dunedin to Clutha—Dunedin to Green Island.

Port Chalmers to Dunedin.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

RAILWAY RATES ON TOLLS.

Ship goods to be carried according to weights and measurements in bills of lading.

Rates.

Ordinary goods and general merchandise, and all goods not otherwise specified, per ton per mile ... 7d.

Consignments under one ton to be charged at ordinary merchandise rates
