The ballot for those sections which are covered by more than one application will take place at 12 o’clock on the following day.

SCHOLARSHIPS.

THERE are offered for competition, to Students intending to study for the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Otago and Southland—
The LANG Scholarship, of the annual value of £25, and the RIVERTON Scholarship, of the annual value of £15 tenable for three years—to be competed for by Students entering on their University course; and a PRESBYTERY Scholarship, tenable for two years, of the annual value of £25—to be competed for by Students of the second year.

The subjects for examination for the Lang and Riverton Scholarship are—1. Arithmetic; 2. English Grammar; 3. Euclid, Book I., and Algebra, the four elementary rules; 4. English History, 1793 to 1837; 5. Latin, De Amicitia; 6. Greek Grammar; 7. Scripture knowledge, Genesis and Acts.

The subjects for the Presbytery Scholarship are—1. Euclid, Books I., II., and III., and Algebra to Quadratics; English History and Literature—1800 to 1875; 3. Greek History—Fifth Century B.C. (Smith’s or any similar history); 4. Latin—Virgil, Book II.; 5. Greek—Anabasis, Book II.; 6. Scripture knowledge, Genesis and Acts.

The Competition will take place, in the Class-room of Knox Church, on Thursday, the 29th April, at 10 a.m.

Intending competitors will please give early notice of their intention to E. B. Cargill, Esq., and forward at the same time certificate of character from their respective ministers.

WANTED for Clifton School, near Invercargill, a competent master. Salary: £75, with School fees. A commodious residence is in course of erection. Applications, with testimonials, to be lodged before 16th March, with
