NOTICE.

In the matter of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act,
1871," and of an Order made by the Makarewa Road
Board for opening up of roads.

UNDER and by virtue of the provisions of section
thirty-three of the "Highway Boards Empower-
ing Act, 1871," I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of
the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint and fix Fri-
day, the 18th day of December instant, at the hour of 12
noon, at the Superintendent’s office, in the Provincial
Government Buildings, at Dunedin, as and to be the
time and place for taking into consideration an Order
made by the Makarewa Road Board, on the 17th day of
October, 1874, and published in the Otago Provincial
Government Gazette, No. 937, on the 2nd day of Decem-
ber, 1874, for opening up a new road along the eastern
side of section 28, block XIV, Invercargill Hundred, and
a new road along the eastern side of section 19 of the
said block and Hundred.

Dated at Dunedin, this 3rd of December, 1874.

NOTICE.

1871," and of an Order made by the Makarewa Val-
ley Road Board for opening up a road.

UNDER and by virtue of the provisions of section
thirty-three of the "Highway Boards Empower-
ing Act, 1871," I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of
the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint and fix Fri-
day, the 18th day of December instant, at the hour of 12
noon, at the Superintendent’s office, in the Provincial
Government Buildings, at Dunedin, as and to be the
time and place for taking into consideration an Order
made by the Makarewa Road Board on the 17th day of
October, 1874, and published in the Otago Provincial
Government Gazette, No. 937, on the 2nd day of Decem-
ber, 1874, for opening up a new road along the northern
side of section 20, block V, Winton Hundred, Lime Hill
Reserve, and thence in a south-easterly direction till it
reaches the present road along the southern side of the
said section 20, block V, Winton Hundred.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields
Act 1866," and to the Regulations made under that
Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867,
1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for Gold
mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is here-
by notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold
mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant speci-
fied in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid
objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged
with the Warden at Cromwell, on or before the 15th day
of January 1875.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may
be seen at the Warden’s Office at Cromwell.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 14th day
of December, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-four.

REGULATIONS.

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintend-
ent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Province,
do hereby by virtue and in exercise of the powers dele-
gated to the Executive Government of the said Province
in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New
Zealand in Council, under the authority of "The Gold
Fields Act Amendment Act, 1867," and of any and every
power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, make, pro-
claim, and declare the Regulations hereinafter mentioned
for the depasturing of stock on that part of the Waste
Lands of the Crown within the Otago Gold Field known
as the "Clyde Commonage," that is to say—

  1. No sheep shall be depastured on the Commonage
    unless a portion of it be set aside for that purpose.

  2. No bull over the age of six months, entire horse
    over the age of twelve months, shall be depas-
    tured on the Commonage without the consent in
    writing of the Wardens.

  3. Any person or persons removing cattle from the
    Common, shall drive the cattle which he or they
    shall collect to the nearest stockyard, and sepa-
    rate from the others his or their cattle, and
    drive the others back from whence they came.

  4. It shall be lawful for the Board of Wardens to
    authorise the mustering of stock illegally depa-
    sturing on the Commonage; and the owner or
    owners of such stock shall be liable for the
    expenses incurred in mustering.

  5. It shall be lawful for the Board of Wardens to
    authorise the impounding of stock illegally de-
    pasturing on the Commonage.
