nui, and proceeding due south along the wes-
tern boundary of Reserve on the said Run
twelve thousand six hundred (12,600) links;
thence due east along the southern boundary
of the said Reserve six thousand eight hun-
dred (6800) links; thence in a south-westerly
direction along the Clutha river to a creek
ten thousand five hundred (10,500) links;
thence along that creek and to the aforesaid
road line near the saddle or dividing ridge
twenty-one thousand three hundred (21,300)
links; thence along the said road line twenty-
two thousand (22,000) links to the starting
point.

And the said lands will be open for application on agri-
cultural lease in terms of the Agricultural Lease Regula-
tions, at the Warden’s Office, Lawrence, on and after
Tuesday, the 5th day of January, 1875.

Given under my hand, and issued under the
Public Seal of the Province of Otago, in pre-
sence of Donald Reid and George Turnbull,
Esquires, two of the Members of the Executive
Council of the said Province, being also Mem-
bers of the Provincial Council thereof, this
second day of December one thousand eight

PROCLAMATION.

Setting apart Crown Lands in the Otago Gold Field for the purpose of granting Agricultural Leases.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Otago, in Council.

WHEREAS by the 33rd section of the “Gold Fields
Act 1866,” it is enacted amongst other things
that it shall be lawful for the Governor to cause Crown
Lands situate within a Gold Field to be selected and
set apart for the purpose of granting Agricultural Leases
thereon and therefor: And whereas Thomas Dick,
Esquire, then the Superintendent of the Province of
Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers dele-
gated to and vested in him in that behalf, did, by Pro-
clamation in the Government Gazette of the said Pro-
vince, bearing date the twenty-ninth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, constitute
and appoint all the territory therein described, including
amongst other lands the lands hereinafter described
to be a Gold Field under the provisions of the “Gold
Fields Act 1866,” to be called “Otago Gold Field”:
And whereas by the “Gold Fields Act Amendment
Act 1867,” it is enacted that within any Province in
which by any Act or Ordinance, it is provided that the
Superintendent shall, in the administration of the
Government thereof, act by and with the advice and
consent of an Executive Council, it shall be lawful for
the Governor in Council, under his hand, and under
the public seal of the Colony, from time to time as
occasion may require, to delegate to the Executive
Government for the time being of such Province sub-
ject or not to any restrictions or limitations as he may
think fit, all or any of such powers vested in the
Governor, or the Governor in Council, by the “Gold
Fields Act 1866,” as under, or by virtue of the one
hundred and ninth section of the said Act may be
delegated by the Governor in Council, and in like
manner to revoke any such delegation: And whereas
by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial
Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the
“Executive Council Ordinance 1861,” it is provided
that the Superintendent of the said province shall, in
the administration of the Government thereof, act by
and with the advice and consent of an Executive
Council: And whereas the Governor hath, with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of New
Zealand, and in pursuance of the power and authority
for that purpose vested in him by the “Gold Fields
Act 1866,” and subject to its provisions delegated unto
the Executive Government for the time being of the
Province of Otago all such powers vested in the

Governor, or the Governor in Council, by the said
last-mentioned Act, as under or by virtue of the 109th
section of the said last-mentioned Act may be dele-
gated by the Governor in Council, to have, hold, and
exercise, the said powers within the said Province of
Otago: And whereas the said lands hereinafter described
are Crown Lands, subject to be dealt with under the pro-
visions of the said 33rd section of the “Gold Fields
Act 1866,” and it is deemed expedient to set the same
apart for the purpose of granting agricultural leases
thereon and therefor.

Now, therefore I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Super-
intendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Province and by virtue and in exercise of the powers
delegated to the Executive Government of the said
Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor
of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of the
“Gold Fields Act Amendment Act 1867,” and of any
and every other power in anywise enabling me in this
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands
comprised within the area hereinafter described
have been and are hereby selected and set apart
by the Executive Government of the Province of Otago
for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon
and therefor (that is to say),—

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in the
Colony of New Zealand, containing by estimation four-
teen thousand five hundred (14,500) acres, more or less,
situate in the Cromwell and Wakefield Districts, being
parts of runs numbered respectively two hundred and
forty-five (245) and three hundred and forty (340) on the
map of the said districts; bounded by a line commencing
at the junction of the Lowburn with the Clutha River,
and proceeding southward along the Clutha river to the
town of Cromwell twenty-one thousand five hundred
(21,500) links; thence in a north-westerly direction along
the town boundary ten thousand two hundred (10,200)
links; thence in a south-westerly direction along the
boundary of the said township three thousand seven hun-
dred and thirty-four (3734) links to section numbered 10,
block I, Cromwell District; thence along the north-
eastern boundary of the said section nine hundred (900)
links; thence along the north-western boundary of the
said section three thousand two hundred (3,200) links;
thence along the south-western boundaries of the said
section numbered 10 and the town of Cromwell five
thousand five hundred (5,500) links, to the Kawarau
river; thence in a south-westerly direction along the
Kawarau river twenty-two thousand six hundred
(22,600) links; thence in a north-westerly direction along
the Kawarau river thirty-six thousand (36,000) links to the
junction of a creek; thence in a northerly direction along
that creek to a point in a straight line with Trigonometrical
Station G, and the junction of Stratford’s gully with the
Lowburn, fourteen thousand four hundred (14,400)
links; thence along the said straight line to the aforesaid
junction of Stratford’s gully with the Lowburn, twenty-
nine thousand five hundred (29,500) links; thence in a
south-easterly direction along the Lowburn twenty
thousand six hundred (20,600) links to the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public
seal of the Province of Otago, in presence of
Donald Reid and Robert Stout, Esquires, two
of the members of the Executive Council of the
said Province, being also members of the Pro-
vincial Council thereof, this sixth day of
November, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-four.
