CLOSING ROADS

NOTICE is hereby given that objections have been lodged with me against the shutting up of certain road lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordinance 1874, situate in the Road Districts of Aparima, Blueskin, Half-Way Bush, Peninsula, Portobello, Shotover, and Otepopo, a special meeting of the Executive Council will be held in the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Thursday, the 17th day of December, at noon, for the purpose of deciding the said objections, when parties interested are invited to attend.

HAWKSBURY ROAD DISTRICT

NOTICE is hereby given, that an application has been made to His Honor the Superintendent to proclaim certain Roads, twelve in number, in the Hawksbury Road District, to be Main District Roads, and that His Honor will proceed to consider the application on the 17th of December next, at noon. Objections to the request of the Board being complied with must be lodged at the Provincial Secretary's Office on or before that date.

HALF-WAY BUSH DISTRICT ROAD BOARD

NOTICE is hereby given that the Half-Way Bush District Road Board intends to levy a Special Rate of one Shilling in the Pound on all properties situate in the Waikari sub-division of the said district, and also a special rate of one shilling in the pound on all properties situate in the Flagstaff sub-division of the said district, for the period ending June 30, 1875.

All objections against rate or assessment (if any) must be lodged with the undersigned within one month from this date.

The rate-book is open for inspection daily at the school-house, Waikari.

The Board meets to make rate Saturday 12th instant at 6 p.m.

TENDERS

I.—Tenders wanted for procuring, spreading, &c., 300 yards of Beach Gravel on the road near the residence of J. Macandrew, Esq., N.E. Harbour Subdivision. Information supplied by Messrs Hooper and Hunter, N.E. Harbour. Tenders sent in before 2nd January, 1875.

II.—Tenders wanted, for cutting the hill on Beach Road, opposite sections 50, 51, 52, 53, N.E. Harbour. Information supplied and tenders sent in as above.

III.—Tenders wanted for providing, spreading, &c., 120 yards best metal on Valley Road, Tomahawk subdivision. Also 40 yards best metal on Small's road, Tomahawk. All information supplied by any of the Tomahawk members. Tenders to be sent in before 2nd January, 1875.

IV.—Tenders wanted for clearing, forming, &c., 12 feet wide, the Main District Road, Tomahawk, from Mr. Fraser’s to Mr. T. Robertson’s. Information supplied and tenders sent in as above.

V.—Tenders wanted, for finishing the upper ten chains of Brown’s road, Anderson’s Bay, leading from Portobello road to Lagoon. Specifications, &c., with Mr. Thomas Somerville, Anderson’s Bay. Tenders sent in as above.

VI.—Notice is hereby given, that the General Rate of One Shilling per £ on the whole district, and the special rate of One Shilling per £ on the N.E. Harbour and Tomahawk Subdivisions, are now due, and must be paid to me before the 1st January, 1875, after which all unpaid rates will be handed over to the Board’s solicitor for collection.

For the convenience of ratepayers I will attend at Anderson’s Bay Schoolhouse, on Saturday, 19th instant, from 10 a.m. till noon; and at Tomahawk Schoolhouse, on 19th instant, from 1 till 4 p.m.; and at N.E. Harbour, Mr. C. Hunter’s, on Monday, 21st inst., from 5 till 7 p.m.

KAIKORAI ROAD DISTRICT

RATEPAYERS are hereby notified that a statement of the proposed Rates can be inspected for ten days, as follows:

Abbotsford Subdivision, at Mr. M’Cracken’s,
Abbotshill Subdivision, at Collins’s, Volunteer Club.

All Objections to the rate must be lodged with the Clerk, within 30 days from the date of this notice.

TAIERI ROAD BOARD

THE Taieri Road Board NOTICE intend to levy general rates for year 1874-75 on all rateable property within the District, as follows, viz.:

East Taieri Subdivision—Sixpence per £.
Owhiro Subdivision—One Shilling per £.
Broadalbane Subdivision—Sixpence per £.

The Rate Book lies at the Clerk’s house, in Mosgiel, where objections, if any, must be lodged in writing within 30 days from date hereof.

Objections will be heard at a Special Meeting of the Board, at Riccarton, on the second Saturday in January, 1875, at 3 o’clock p.m.

WANTED £3000

THE District Board and Ratepayers of the North-East Valley Road District being incorporated by virtue of the Otago Roads Ordinance 1871 and the Highway Boards Empowering Act, are hereby authorised to borrow to the extent of £3000. The Board having gone through the preliminaries in terms of the Act, are now in a position to invite investors to lend in sums of £100 and upwards, for five years, at 5 per cent. The security offered is the District General Rate of one shilling in the £. The District extends from the Leith Toll-bar to Port Chalmers, thence from Otago Harbour to Flagstaff, being over twenty square miles.
