Mining, Roads, and Tenders




PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

In conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act 1859," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 11th day of December 1874.

Copy of application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Queenstown.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 7th day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

SCHEDULE.

William Palmer on behalf of the Hit or Miss Company for 4 acres, of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at Maori Point Upper Shotover.

Henry Johnston on behalf of the Red, White and Blue Company for 5 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at junction of Moke Creek and Shotover.


OTAGO ROADS ORDINANCE, 1871.

Election of Road Board—Appointment of Polling Places.

WHEREAS by Section 100 of the "Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871," it is enacted that in and for each district, when occasion shall require, the Superintendent from time to time, if it shall seem fit, on the application of the Board thereof may appoint a sufficient number of polling places for such district at which the poll shall be taken at all elections held for the same:

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint the places after mentioned to be the polling places for the Oreti Road District, at which the poll shall be taken at all elections held for the same, until duly altered or varied, of which notice is hereby given to all concerned.

POLLING PLACES.

For the Hokonui Subdivision of the said District—The house of Peter M’Kellar, Esquire, Glenorcie, on Run Number 136.

For the Waiou Subdivision of the said District—The house of William Johnstone, Esquire, Wrey’s Bush, on Run Number 153.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, in the said Province, this eighth day of December, 1874.

NOTICE

In the matter of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," and of an Order made by the Makarewa Road Board for opening up of roads.

UNDER and by virtue of the provisions of section thirty-three of the "Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871," I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby appoint and fix Friday, the 18th day of December instant, at the hour of 12 noon, at the Superintendent’s office, in the Provincial Government Buildings, at Dunedin, as and to be the time and place for taking into consideration an Order made by the Makarewa Road Board on the 17th day of October, 1874, and published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette, No. 937, on the 2nd day of December, 1874, for opening up a new road along the northern side of section 20, block V, Winton Hundred, Lime Hill Reserve, and thence in a south-easterly direction till it reaches the present road along the southern side of the said section 20, block V, Winton Hundred.

Dated at Dunedin, this 3rd day of December, 1874.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 22nd December, 1874, for—

Contract No. 1011.—Construction of Bridge and Approaches, Beaconsfield.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at Toll-house, Kilmog Bridge.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 1011."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

Contract No. 1014.—Formation 39 chains of road, Portobello to Heads.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 1014."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Lawrence.

Tenders to be indorsed "Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 1013."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
