EXAMINATION OF PUPIL TEACHERS.

Examinations of Pupil Teachers, and of Candidates for employment as such, will be held at the Education Office, Dunedin, and at the Schoolhouses of Invercargill, Oamaru, Milton, and Queenstown, upon the 21st and 22nd of December, 1874, at half-past 9 o’clock a.m. on each day. Intending candidates must send notice through their teachers before the 15th December.

SEASIDE ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given that a General rate of 1s per £, also a special rate of 3/4 per £ was made on the 24th October, 1874, for the year ending June, 1875, payable to me until the 1st January, 1875, when all unpaid rates will be handed over to the Board’s Solicitor for collection. For the convenience of ratepayers I shall attend at the Schoolhouse, Brighton, on the 28th Dec., from 10 a.m. to noon; at the Schoolhouse, Saddle Hill, from 2 to 4 p.m.; and at the Schoolhouse, Walton, on the 29th, from 2 to 4 p.m.

NOTICE.—The South Molyneux Road Board intend at their meeting on Thursday, 31st December, to levy a General rate of sixpence in the £ on all rateable property within the district for the year ending June, 1875; also a special rate of sixpence in the £ in the Catlin River subdivision, and threepence in the £ in the Ahuriri subdivision of the above district. A statement of the proposed rate lies for inspection by ratepayers at the office of the Board.

TO THE RATEPAYERS IN THE PORTOBELLO ROAD DISTRICT.

NOTICE.

The Rate for the year ending June, 1875, being now due, for the convenience of ratepayers the Collector will be in attendance at the following places, viz.:—

On Thursday, the 3rd day of December, at the Church, Portobello;
On Friday, the 4th of December, at the house of Mr. Archibald M’Kay, Sandymount, from 10 a.m. till noon; and at Mr. William Dickenson’s, Portobello, from 2 till 4 p.m.;
On Saturday, the 5th of December, at the Office of the Board, at Mr. Allan’s, from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.

PORT CHALMERS GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

“Extract from Section XIV of the Education Ordinance 1861.

On the second Monday in the month of January in each year, a public meeting of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in every Educational district, being male persons above twenty-one years of age, shall be held at a time and place to be fixed by the Secretary of the Board, and notified by public advertisement at least one month previously, and in such other manner as the Board shall direct, and at such meeting a Chairman shall be chosen and the School Committee for the preceding year shall give a full report of their proceedings, and thereupon the electors present shall proceed to elect, either by show of hands or by ballot, as shall be determined upon by the said meeting, a new School Committee for the ensuing year of not less than five, nor more than nine persons possessing the qualifications prescribed by clause 13, and may re-elect all, or any of the persons going out of office, to be members of such new Committee, and every Committee so to be appointed shall hold office until the appointment of their successors.”


THE Monthly Meeting of the Education Board will be held in the Government Offices Dunedin, on Monday the 7th December at noon.
