in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by estimation two thousand five hundred (2500) acres, more or less, situate in Teviot District, being part of Run numbered three hundred and sixty-nine (369), comprising parts of blocks numbered respectively five (V.) and Eight (VIII.) on the map of the said District, bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of section 33, block V., and proceeding due north eight thousand four hundred and eighty (8480) links, to the northern boundary of block V., thence due west two thousand four hundred and fifty (2450) links, to a point due north of Trigonometrical Station M, thence due north twenty thousand (20,000) links, to a point due east of Station J; thence due east eight thousand six hundred (8600) links, to a point 1000 links distant from the Clutha river; thence in a southerly direction twenty thousand two hundred and fifty (20,250) links along a line parallel to the Clutha river; thence due west along the northern boundary of block V., to a road line one thousand seven hundred (1700) links; thence in a southerly direction along that road line eight thousand four hundred (8400) links; thence due west seven thousand nine hundred (7900) links, to the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, in presence of Donald Reid and George Turnbull, Esquires, Members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also Members of the Provincial Council thereof, this twenty-fifth day of November one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin, this 20th day of November, 1874, present—Donald Reid and George Turnbull, Esquires.

WHEREAS by the thirty-sixth section of the “Turnpikes Ordinance, 1866,” it is provided that the Superintendent and Executive Council may cause check-bars to be placed on any district road in the said Province, and may cause tolls to be levied at such bars, and taken from such persons who may travel by such district roads for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on main roads, provided that one-half of such tolls shall be handed to the District Board in which the road or roads is or are situated: Now therefore His Honor the Superintendent, in pursuance of the provisions of the said Ordinance, and in exercise of every power and authority enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby order that a check-bar be placed at the junction of the road to the Township of Opoho with the Main North Road, and that tolls be levied at such bar, and taken from such persons (excepting persons resident in the said Township of Opoho or who may have business with persons resident in the said Township) who may travel by such district roads, for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on the said Main North Road, and that one-half of the tolls so levied at such check-bar be handed to the District Board of the North-East Valley Road District.

NOTICE

Of certain lands at Invercargill, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a Reserve for Collection and Supply of Water for the Town of Invercargill.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of Section 62 of the “Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved as a reserve for collection and supply of water for the town of Invercargill; and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described as a Reserve for collection and supply of water for the town of Invercargill: (that is to say)—

One block, 360 acres, being section 133 in the Forest Hill Hundred, situated near the head of the west branch of the Dunsdale Creek, and bounded towards the east by section 134 of said Hundred 3859½ links; towards the north-east by a line bearing 297dg. 20min., a distance of 7036 links; towards the north-west by a line at right angles to the north-east boundary, 4770 links; towards the south-west by a line parallel to the north-east boundary, 6212 links; and towards the south by a line running due east, 2922 links: and one block of 460 acres, being section 134 in the Forest Hill Hundred, bounded towards the south-east by section 52 of aforesaid Hundred, 8960 links; on the south by a line running due west, 269 links; towards the west by section 133 aforesaid, 3859½ links, and a line running due north, 8786½ links; towards the north by a line running due east, 4000 links; towards the east by a line running due south, 3752 links; again towards the south by a line running due west, 230 links; again towards the east by a public road, 1914 links, 1368 links, 1248 links, and 649 links; and a line running to the north-east corner of section 52 aforesaid, 2819½ links, always excepting out of the land described the reserved track running through the said blocks.

Dated at Dunedin this 10th day of November, 1874.

WARRANT

Appointing a Commissioner of Southland Waste Lands Board.

WHEREAS a Board has been established under the Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865, called the Waste Land Board: And Whereas, by the 6th section of the said Act it is provided that the said Board is to consist of one Chief Commissioner, and of not less than three nor more than five other Commissioners, all of whom shall be appointed and be removable by warrant under the hand of the Superintendent: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865, and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby nominate and appoint

GEORGE LUMSDEN, Esquire,

to be a Commissioner of the said Waste Land Board established under the said Act.
