NOTICE

Of certain lands at Riverton, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a Reserve for the endowment of a Trust for the Harbour of Riverton.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS it is expedient to reserve certain lands hereinafter described as a Reserve for the endowment of a Trust for the Harbour of Riverton: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power in that behalf vested in me, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a Reserve for the endowment of a Trust for the Harbour of Riverton: (that is to say)—

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by estimation three thousand (3000) acres, more or less, situated in the Jacob’s River Hundred, and bounded towards the north-west by section 7, Jacob’s River Hundred, four thousand (4000) links; towards the south-west by said section 7, a public road, and section 2 of said Jacob’s River Hundred, four thousand one hundred (4100) links; again on the north-west by Crown lands eleven thousand seven hundred (11,700) links; on the north-east by a public road three thousand three hundred (3300) links, and again on the north-east by section 26 of said Jacob’s River Hundred, three thousand six hundred (3600) links; on the south-east by a public road, one thousand and seventy (1170) links; again on the south-east, by a public road, one hundred (100) links, and section 13 of the said Jacob’s River Hundred, five thousand two hundred and ten (5210) links; towards the east by the Jounamu Creek, thirteen thousand three hundred (13,300) links; again towards the north-east, east, and south, by the road reserve, one hundred (100) links wide; on the west bank of the Waimatuku River, twenty-nine thousand (29,000) links, or thereabouts; on the east by the Crown lands, one thousand (1000) links or thereabouts; towards the south by the road reserve, one hundred (100) links wide along high water mark of the ocean beach, eleven thousand two hundred (11,200) links; again towards the south-west, by a public road, four thousand (4000) links, and thereabouts, to first described boundary.

NOTICE

Of application for lease of certain lands at Cromwell.

Any person desiring to object to the granting of a lease of the land hereinafter described may lodge an objection, stating the grounds thereof, with the Warden at Cromwell, on or before the 18th day of December, 1874.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Cromwell.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 16th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

SCHEDULE

George B. Douglas on behalf of the Bendigo Deep Level Co., for 16 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at Bendigo Gully.


NOTICE

Of land reserved for a public purpose.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that the undermentioned Land has been temporarily reserved as a Bush Reserve—area 500 acres.

Bounded on the north by section 1, block V., Aparima Hundred; on the east by part of section 25, and sections 26 and 27, block I. of said Hundred; on the south by a line parallel to and 7100 links distant from the northern boundary; and on the west by a line parallel to and 7050 links distant from the eastern boundary.

NOTICE

Of appointment of Mr James Wheatley to be Ranger for the Otago Acclimatisation Society.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 31 of “The Protection of Animals Act, 1873,” has appointed Mr. James Wheatley to be a Ranger for the Otago Acclimatisation Society, in terms of said section 31 of “The Protection of Animals Act, 1873,” over the district lying between the Horse Range and the Waitaki, and ten miles back from the Coast.

NOTICE

Of certain lands at Athol, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a Reserve for a public Cemetery.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have under and by virtue of Section 62 of the “Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be reserved for a public Cemetery, and it is expedient that the said lands should be so reserved for that purpose: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands herein-after described a Reserve for a public Cemetery: (that is to say)—

Section 1, block IV., Township of Athol, containing two acres.

Dated at Dunedin, this 10th day of November, 1874.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

IN conformity to the 29th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden.


TENDERS

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Lands and Works until noon of Tuesday, 1st December, for Contract No. 1005.—Forming 15 chains of road, Dunedin to Blueskin (via Water of Leith.) Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Engineer of Roads and Works Dunedin. Tenders to be endorsed “Roads and Works Tender for Contract No. 1005.”


His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following members of the Police force—viz.,

Sergt. James Joseph Tuohy, Riverton Constable Patrick Barry, Mataura,

to be Inspectors of Slaughter Yards, and of Cattle intended for Slaughter, each for the District mentioned immediately after his name.

His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Otago directs it to be notified that, by virtue of the delegation in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, he has appointed Mr. Charles Anderson, Inspector of Sheep at Invercargill, to be a Cattle Inspector for the Southland District.
