That the attention of School Committees be directed to section 19 of the “Education Ordinance, 1864,” and to the “Board’s Regulations” of February 29th, 1872; and that Committees be informed that no appointment by any School Committee of an uncertificated teacher can be recognised as valid unless such appointment shall have been made by leave of the Board, previously obtained, as provided by section 19 of the Ordinance referred to—

Education Ordinance 1864, Sec. 19.
The School Committee of every Educational District shall be entitled to select a Teacher or Teachers for every Main and Side School in the District but no election of a Teacher shall be deemed valid until such Teacher shall have produced to the Board a certificate of qualification from Her Majesty’s Committee of Privy Council on Education or from the Inspector of Schools appointed as aforesaid, and such other certificates of fitness as shall be required by any regulations that may hereafter be made by The Board: Provided nevertheless, that in case a qualified Teacher cannot be obtained for any School or Schools a person not duly qualified may by leave of The Board be temporarily appointed until a qualified Teacher shall be obtained.
Notice is hereby given that I have appointed Friday the 7th day of August 1874, at 12 o’clock noon, at my office for the purpose of hearing the application when persons claiming any interest in the above mentioned sections are requested to attend and state their objections, if any, to the claim of the said Robert McIntyre being granted.

Applications having been received to purchase sections 57, 59, 61, Block VII and section 5 Block XIII, Waipahi District, it is hereby notified that objections to the issue of certificates for the occupation thereof on deferred payment, must be notified at least twenty-four hours before the 12th day of August, 1874; and should no objections be made or sustained, the sections will be granted to the applicants.

Notice is hereby given, that section 1, block 3, Tuapeka West District, containing 57a. 2r. 20p., will be offered for sale by auction at the Survey Office, Lawrence, on Monday, the 7th day of September next, at noon, at the upset price of £1, and subject to the repayment of valuations for improvements to the occupant.
Immediately after, section 25, block 39, Lawrence Township, hitherto temporarily reserved for educational purposes, will be offered for sale at the upset price of £3.
