LAND ON DEFERRED PAYMENTS.

ALL the land described in the following Proclamation will be open for application at the Land Office, Invercargill on the 29th July, 1874:—

Applications must be accompanied by a deposit of 1s. 3d. per acre, which will be credited to the first year’s purchase money.

The price will be an annual payment of 2s. 6d. per acre, for ten years, when, if the conditions are fulfilled, the land becomes the freehold of the applicant.

PROCLAMATION

Setting apart certain Lands for occupation on deferred payments.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the fifth section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Southland Waste Lands Act Amendment Act,” 1873, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, to set aside lands for sale on deferred payments, such lands to be sold and dealt with in terms of and subject to the conditions and provisions embodied in sections forty-seven to sixty-four inclusive of “The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872.” And, whereas, the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of the said Province to set apart the lands hereinafter specified for alienation on deferred payments.

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, as aforesaid, do hereby, by virtue, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Southland Waste Lands Act Amendment Act,” 1873, or of every and any power in this behalf enabling me, proclaim, declare, and set apart all those districts, or blocks of land, specified in the schedule hereto, as districts or blocks within which land may be sold on deferred payments on and after the 29th day of July, 1874.

SCHEDULE.

2584 acres, more or less, in the Oteramika Hundred, being sections 17, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, and 37, block I., sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26, block II.

900 acres, more or less, in the New River Hundred, being bounded on the north by the northern boundary of said Hundred; towards the north-east by Spar Bush; on the east by block XIII., New River Hundred; towards the south-east by Spar Bush; on the west by section 28, New River Hundred.

2100 acres, more or less, in the New River Hundred, bounded towards the north by the northern boundary of said Hundred; towards the east by sections 28, 25, and block VII.; towards the south by section 20; and towards the west by section 16, land under dispute, and sections 26, 24, 23, and 22 of said Hundred.

3500 acres, more or less, in the Forest Hill Hundred, bounded towards the north by sections 53 and 45; towards the east by the edge of the forest and section 39; again towards the north by sections 39, 69, 57, and 117; on the west by section 117; again on the north by the edge of the forest; again on the east by sections 68, 74, and the Hedgehope Stream; towards the south-west by section 78; towards the south-east by sections 78 and 87; again towards the south-west by a line in continuation of the south-west boundary of section 87, about 27 chains; again towards the south-east by a line to the north-east corner of section 122; again towards the south-west by section 122; and towards the west by the Makarewa River.

3291 acres, more or less, in the Oreti Hundred, bounded towards the west by section 43, and in a line drawn due south from Trigonometrical Station W.; towards the south by the south boundary of the Oreti Hundred, a distance of about 80 chains; towards the east by a line running due north, about 240 chains; again towards the south by a line running due-east about 140 chains; again towards the east by a line running due-north about 65 chains; and towards the north by a line running due west to section 43.

1150 acres, more or less, in the Hokanui District, on Run No. 116, bounded towards the north by section 122, and a public road, towards the east by land in dispute, named section 383; towards the south by the Charlton Creek; and towards the west by a line parallel to the eastern boundary to include the required acreage.

2170 acres, more or less, in the Hokanui District, on Run No. 112, bounded towards the north-east by a public road; towards the south-east by section 185; towards the south-west by sections 186, 54, 37, and 53; and towards the north-west by a public road.

1550 acres, more or less, in the Hokanui District, on Run No. 195A, bounded towards the north-west by section 357 and a line in continuation of the south-east boundary thereof; towards the south-west by the north-east boundary of section 349 and line in continuation thereof; north to section 357, and south to section 359, and towards the north-east by a line parallel to the western boundary to include the required acreage.

200 acres, more or less, in the Hokanui District, on Run No. 207A, bounded towards the east by the Mataura River, towards the south-west by section 113, towards the north-west by a public road, and towards the north-east by the boundary of Run No. 207A.

400 acres, more or less, in the Hokanui District, on Run No. 146, bounded towards the north by a line parallel to the valley of the Spiritburn, towards the east by the boundary of the classified agricultural land, towards the south by a line parallel to the north boundary, and towards the west by section 369.

1080 acres, more or less, in the Eyre District, on Run No. 214, bounded towards the east by the main road and Mataura River, on the north by the northern boundary of Run No. 214, on the west by a meridional line at the base of the hills a distance of about 120 chains, thence towards the north-west and south-west by lines cutting along the base of the high hills and joining the Mataura River at a point due east of Castle Hill.

625 acres, more or less, in the Taringatura District, on Run 135, bounded towards the north-west by a line at right angles to the public road at first turn-post past Trigonometrical Station H, towards the south-west by the public road or by section No. 118, towards the north-east by a line parallel to the general direction of the said road to include the required acreage, and towards the south-east by a line at right angles to the road, commencing at a point about 25 chains from the south boundary of Run No. 135.

1700 acres, more or less, in the Taringatura District, on Run No. 149, bounded towards the north-east by the Hillend Creek, towards the east by section 116, towards the west by the west boundary of Run 149, and towards the south-west by a line parallel to the general direction of the creek, to include the required acreage.

960 acres, more or less, in the Taringatura District, on Run No. 159, bounded towards the north by sections 163 and 164, towards the east by the Dipton Creek, and towards the west, south, and south-west by lines at the base of the Taringatura Hills, to include the required acreage.

1950 acres, more or less, in Wairio District, on Run No. 153, bounded towards the east by a public road, the Homestead Pre-emptive Right,, Eelsedown Township Reserve, towards the south by the south boundary of Township Reserve, continued to the Opio Creek, towards the west by the Opio Creek, and towards the north by an east and west line to include the required area.

880 acres, more or less, in the Wairio District, on Run No. 133, bounded towards the north-west by a public road, towards the north-east by the south-west boundary of section 19, continued from the road to the Opio Creek, towards the south-east by the Opio Creek, and towards the south-west by a line at right angles to the road, to include the required area.

750 acres, more or less, in the Waiau District, on Run No. 156A2, bounded towards the east by a public road, section 25, Orawia River, and the Reserve at Braida Craig, towards the south by the Marshburn Creek, towards the west by a creek flowing into the Marshburn, and towards the north-west by a line at right angles to the road, to include the required area.

1160 acres, more or less, in the Waiau District, on Run No. 165, bounded towards the north-east by a line drawn from Trigonometrical Station H to north-east corner of section 12, by section 12, and a public road, towards the south by section 16 and a line in continuation of the north boundary thereof, towards the west by a line parallel to the general direction of the road about 60
