NUMBERS OF SECTIONS. | MODIFICATIONS.

Section Five ... | The style shall be “The Corporation of the Town of Roxburgh, instead of “The Corporation of the City of Dunedin.”

Section Twelve ... | Instead of “each of the said four several Wards of the City of Dunedin,” the following modification: “each of the said three several Wards of the Incorporated Town of Roxburgh.”

Section Twenty-eight | Instead of the words “City of Dunedin,” in this Section the words, “the Incorporated Town of Roxburgh.”

Section Ninety-eight | Instead of the words “one hundred thousand pounds” in this Section, the words “ten thousand pounds.”

Third Schedule.

Boundaries of the Incorporated Town of Roxburgh, as delineated on the record maps of the said town, deposited in the Survey Office, in Dunedin, in the said Province.

All that area in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement four hundred and eighty-two (482) acres more or less; bounded by a line commencing on the west bank of the Clutha river and proceeding due west along the southern boundary of the Teviot district one thousand (1000) links, thence in a northerly direction along the Dunedin and Tuapeka road one thousand two hundred and thirty (1230) links, thence due west to the western boundary of section 33, block II., Teviot district, seven hundred and ninety-six (796) links, thence in a northerly direction along the western boundary of the said block II, seven thousand four hundred and sixty (7470) links; thence in a north-westerly direction along the south-western boundary of that block, five thousand and eighty-seven (5087) links, thence in a north-westerly direction along the south-western boundary of that block five thousand and eighty-seven (5087) links, thence in a north-easterly direction along the south-eastern boundary of section 38 of the said block II, and its continuation in the same direction to the Clutha river, one thousand four hundred (1400) links, thence along that river in a south-easterly direction, eight thousand nine hundred (8900) links, thence in a southerly direction along the said Clutha river, nine thousand one hundred (9100) links to the starting point.

Fourth Schedule.

North Ward.

Comprises all that area bounded by a line, commencing at the northern corner of the town boundary, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along the Clutha river to a point in a straight line with the centre of Abbotsford street; thence in a south-westerly direction along that line, along the centre of Abbotsford-street, and its continuation in the same direction to the town boundary; thence in a north-westerly direction along the town boundary; thence in a north-easterly direction along the town boundary to the starting point.

Central Ward.

Comprises all that area bounded towards the north-west by Northern Ward; thence by a line in a south-easterly direction, along the Clutha river, from the eastern corner of North Ward to a point in a straight line with the centre of Hermitage-street; thence in a south-westerly direction along that line, and along the centre of Hermitage-street to the centre of Jedburgh-street; thence along the centre of Jedburgh-street to Branxholme-street; thence by a straight line, in a south-westerly direction, to peg g; thence in a north-westerly direction along the town boundary to Northern Ward.

South Ward.

Comprises all the remaining portion of the said town.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this 7th day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF ROXBURGH.

Appointment of Mr. John Kingston to prepare the Citizens’ Roll for the Incorporated Town of Roxburgh.

WHEREAS the Town of Roxburgh was, by Proclamation dated the seventh day of July, current, and published in the Otago Government Gazette No. 916, incorporated by the name of the “Corporation of the Town of Roxburgh, and certain provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” were, by such Proclamation, extended to, and declared applicable to and within the Municipality thereby created: And whereas by the 117th section of the said Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” it is amongst other things enacted that for the purposes of the first elections under the said Ordinance of Mayor, Councillors, and Auditors for any town or place to which the provisions of the said Ordinance, or any of them, should be extended as therein provided, the Superintendent of Otago for the time being should appoint some fit and proper person to prepare the Citizens’ Roll for such town and places, the expense of which should be borne and paid by the Council of the town or place elected thereunder, for which any such Citizens’ Roll should be prepared: And whereas Mr. John Kingston of Roxburgh, has been represented to me to be a fit and proper person to prepare the Citizens’ Roll for the said incorporated town of Roxburgh: Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865,” do nominate and appoint the said

Mr. JOHN KINGSTON

to be the person to prepare the Citizens’ Roll for the said incorporated town of Roxburgh.

As witness my hand this 7th day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

WARRANT

Appointing an Officer for the revision of the Citizens’ List and for other purposes in the Incorporated Town of Roxburgh, in the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Town of Roxburgh has been incorporated under the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865:” And whereas by the 113th section of the said Ordinance, it is amongst other things enacted that in cases where no special provision is made for the conduct of the first Elections under the said Ordinance, it should be lawful for the Superintendent of Otago to appoint such and so many persons as might be necessary to perform any of the said acts in the said Ordinance, before required to be done by the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk, Collector, or other Officers, before such officers could be appointed or elected under the provisions of the said Ordinance: And whereas by the 40th Section of the said Ordinance, the Mayor and Councillors of any Town incorporated under the said Ordinance (in the said section called the Council) are constituted open Courts for the revision of the Citizens’ Lists and for hearing and determining the claims of the Citizens thereof to be inserted in such lists, and the objections of such Citizens to any other Citizen having his name retained thereon: And whereas it is expedient to appoint a fit and proper person to perform the acts required to be done by the Council in the said Ordinance, before required to be done:

Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance 1865,” and of all other powers in any wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby nominate and appoint

MR. EDWARD MORRISON

to perform the acts required to be done by the Council.
