INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously Setting Fire to a Stack of Wheat.

£100 Reward.
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS about 7 o’clock on the morning of the 7th instant a stack of Wheat, situate at Bluff Plain, at the mouth of the Otepopo River, the property of Messrs Deihl and Darrack, value £60, was discovered on fire, by which the stack was destroyed : And whereas the said fire is believed to have been the act of an incendiary :

Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £100 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

Maliciously Setting Fire to Corn Stacks in the Arrow District.

£200 Reward,
And a Free Pardon to an accomplice.

WHEREAS it has been represented to the Provincial Government of Otago that, on the 2nd instant, four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200; that, on the 12th instant, three stacks of wheat, situate at Arrow Junction, the property of Robert Pritchard, value £600; that, on the 18th instant, three stacks of wheat, situate at Arrow Junction, the property of James Whelan, value £400; and that on the 24th instant, four stacks of wheat, the property of William Scoles, value £300, all situate in the Arrow District, were destroyed by fire: And whereas the said fires are believed to have been the work of incendiaries :

Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £200 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom any of the said fires were caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fires, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

£50 Reward
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS on the night of the 2nd inst. 175 bags wheat and a stack of straw, situate at the foot of the Horse Range near Palmerston, the property of William Jack, were destroyed by fire. And whereas at an inquest held on the 9th inst. at the Palmerston Hotel, Palmerston, by J. W. Murdoch, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict :—“That the fire was caused by

some person or persons at present unknown.” Notice is hereby given that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

WHEREAS on the night of the 6th inst. a stack of wheat situate near the Kakanui Township, the property of Thos. Everett, which was insured in the New Zealand National Insurance Company for £80, was destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest, held on the 16th instant by T. W. Parker, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict :—

“That the fire took place under suspicious circumstances and was caused by some person or persons to the jury unknown, and that the stack was only of the value of £30.”

Notice is hereby Given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago, to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.

WHEREAS on the morning of the 2nd instant four stacks of wheat, situate at Lake Hayes, Arrow District, the property of Thomas McIntyre, value £200, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held on the 8th instant, at the residence of Mr. Paterson, Lake Hayes, by R. Beetham, Esquire, Coroner, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the jury returned the following verdict :—“That the wheat was maliciously burned by some person or persons at present unknown,”

Notice is hereby given, that a reward of £50 will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who will first give such information as will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused, and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, who will give such information as will lead to a like result.
