Bye laws shall forfeit any sum not exceeding five pounds for every such offence.

  1. No diseased cattle shall be depastured upon the Hundred, nor pigs or goats. Any person who shall depasture diseased cattle, pigs, or goats shall be liable to a penalty of (£5) Five pounds.

  2. In the event of scab breaking out on any sheep on this Hundred, the Waste Land Board, with the Government Inspector, shall take steps to eradicate and prevent spread of disease.

  3. No entire animal above six months old, except rams put to the ewes in season, and no animal of a vicious or otherwise objectionable character, shall be depastured. Any person committing a breach of this regulation shall be liable to a penalty of £5.

  4. All unbranded cattle above six months old depasturing on this Hundred shall be impounded, in manner provided by section 125 of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872.

  5. Any cattle found depasturing on this Hundred, not being the property of or in the custody of a license-holder or depasturing on the Hundred in contravention of these regulations, may be impounded, and the owner or custodian of such cattle shall pay the sum of (£5) five pounds for each offence.

  6. Any person disturbing cattle, great or small, on this Hundred shall be liable to a penalty of £5: Provided always that any license-holder may drive cattle so depastured for the purpose of collecting such of them as may belong to him, and for the legitimate use of the right to depasture within the Hundred; but in case it should be necessary for such purpose to drive any cattle belonging to any other person a greater distance than one mile, the person so driving such cattle must take them to the nearest stockyard, and there separate his own cattle from those of other persons, and return the latter to the place whence they were driven.

  7. No person shall remove cattle from beyond the boundary of any Hundred, other than those belonging to him, or for the removal of which he shall have authority from the majority of the Wardens, under a penalty of £20.

  8. Any person shooting cattle on this Hundred, without the consent in writing of the Waste Land Board previously obtained, shall be liable to a penalty of £20, to be recovered in a summary way.

TUTURAU HUNDRED.

Each license-holder shall be entitled to depasture at the rate of one and a half head of great cattle, or seven and a half head of sheep, for every hundred acres occupied by him or her.

No person shall harass or disturb stock depasturing on the Hundred; and any person driving stock for the purpose of separating them from those wanted, shall take them to the nearest stockyard (available), and then return all stock not their own to where driven from.

MOKORETA HUNDRED.

  1. The number of cattle to be allowed to be depastured on the Mokoreta Hundred in 1874 shall be not more than two hundred head of great cattle, or one thousand small cattle.

  2. Every license-holder shall be entitled to depasture one head of great cattle on the Waste Lands within the Hundred in 1874, for any acreage of land which he may own or occupy up to one hundred and forty acres; and one additional head of great cattle for every additional one hundred and forty acres that he may own or occupy.

TOITOI HUNDRED.

  1. That the Waste Lands within the Hundred are capable of depasturing 2410 head of great cattle.

  2. That License Holders shall be entitled to depasture on payment at the rate of one head of great cattle for each ten acres owned or occupied.

  3. That the boundaries of the Waste Lands within the Hundred shall be the boundaries within which either large or small cattle may be depastured at the option of License-holder.

Bye Laws.

  1. No cattle of any description shall be depastured on the common Waste Lands within the Hundred except by license holders and in accordance with the regulations.

  2. All license holders shall on or before the 13th day of April, 1874, make to the nearest warden a return as provided for in the 130th section of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872.

  3. Any one whether license holder or not, about to bring stock on to the Hundred or to remove stock therefrom, shall before doing so, give written notice to the nearest Warden.

  4. No person shall in any way disturb, harass, or remove cattle, great or small, depastured within the hundred, further than may be necessary for the purpose of collecting and dealing with such of them as may belong to him—and that purpose being carried out, any strange stock so driven must be returned by him without delay to the locality they were brought from.

  5. The penalty for any breach of the foregoing regulations and bye-laws shall be a sum not exceeding £5.
