PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
1. Application for Surveyed Land.
Every application for an Agricultural Lease of Crown lands shall be in the form of the first Schedule hereto, or to the like effect. Every application for any such lease shall be lodged at such Warden’s office as shall be appointed for that purpose, and copies of every such application must be posted and maintained by the applicant for fourteen days on boards standing not less than three feet above the surface of the ground, and erected one at each corner of the land applied for, and every such application shall be advertised twice by and at the expense of the applicant in such newspaper as the Warden may direct, and copies of the newspapers containing such advertisement shall be produced to the Warden at the time of hearing.

PROCLAMATION
Under “The Protection of Animals Act,”
By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.
WHEREAS, by the second section of “The Protection of Animals Act Amendment Act, 1868,” it is enacted that no native game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed in any part of the Colony, except during such months as the Governor shall from time to time by Proclamation appoint in reference to the respective descriptions of native game within the districts mentioned in any such Proclamation: And whereas His Excellency the Governor did, on the ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, delegate me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, all the powers vested by “The Protection of Animals Act, 1867,” in the Governor, or the Governor in Council:
Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, as such Superintendent as aforesaid, acting under and by virtue of the powers vested in me by the said “Protection of Animals Act Amendment Act, 1868,” do hereby proclaim and declare that I have appointed the months of April, May, June, and July to be the months within which native game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed within the Province of Otago (including the District of Southland), commencing on the first day of April next, and ending on the thirty-first day of July next.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION
In conformity to the 29th section of the “Goldfields Act, 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Goldfields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the ground of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden, at Queenstown, on or before the 20th day of March, 1874.
Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office, at Queenstown.

Robert Markland, on behalf of the Energetic Gold Mining Company, for 10 acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be, within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated between One and Two-mile Creeks, Lake Wakatipu.
NOTICE.
JAMES MACANDREW, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, under, and by virtue of the thirty-third section of “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,” after hearing the objections to an order made by the North-East Valley Road Board directing the taking of two road lines, as follows, viz., one road through part of sections 51, 53, 55 Block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin District, and another road through part of sections 17 and 19 North East Valley District, and part of section 11, Block X., North Harbour and Blueskin District. Do hereby confirm the said order without variation.

OTAGO LIGHT RAILWAYS.
TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works, until noon of Friday, 27th March, for Contracts Nos. 877, 878, and 879, Construction of Light Railways in the Western District of Southland, embracing “Riverton to Orepuki,” “Riverton to Otautau,” and “Riverton to Invercargill and Winton Line at Makarewa Bridge.”
Drawings, Specifications, and General Conditions may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin.
Tenders to be endorsed “Tender for Contracts Nos. 877, 878, and 879,” as the case may be. The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
