PROCLAMATION

Of Regulations for the Depasturing of Stock in the Depasturing Districts of Waitahuna, Waipori, and Tuapeka.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

I, JAMES MACANDREW, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by “The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” and of every or any other power in anywise enabling me, do hereby proclaim, declare, and make the following Regulations:—

1.—The persons respectively constituting the Boards of Wardens for the Depasturing Districts of Waitahuna, Waipori, and Tuapeka, on the 21st day of January last, shall continue to hold office, and shall perform all the duties required of the said Boards of Wardens for the respective districts, up to the 1st day of August next, when their successors shall be elected in manner provided by the Regulations now in force for the said districts.

2.—The present Chairman of each of the said Boards shall continue to act as such Chairman until the said 1st day of August next.

PROCLAMATION

Declaring the “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” to be in operation within the Invercargill Hundreds District.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance made by the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, entitled the “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” it was enacted that it should be lawful for the Superintendent from time to time by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, to declare that the said Ordinance should come into operation within any district, and thereby to proclaim the limits of the district. And Whereas, by “The Otago and Southland Union Act, 1870,” it was enacted that in every Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Southland the terms “Superintendent” and “Provincial Government Gazette” should, upon the coming into operation of the said Act, be construed as and should mean respectively the Superintendent for the time being of the Province of Otago (therein called the “new Province”), and the Government Gazette of the said Province of Otago.

Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” shall come into operation on and after this day within the Hundred of Invercargill District, as the limits of the said District are defined in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago (Southland District) bounded on the north by the Nakerewa, on the South by a line running east and west (true bearing) in transit with New River, South Point; on the west, by the New River; on the east, by a line running from the mouth of Tussack Creek on the Makerewa, to the east point of Long Bush, thence due south (true bearing) to Campbeltown Hundred.

PROCLAMATION

Amending Regulations for the Depasturing of Stock within the Wakatipu Depasturing District.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section fourteen of “The Goldfields Act, 1866,” that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time to make, alter, and revoke regulations for the depasturing of stock upon any lands within proclaimed Goldfields, for which a lease or license for depasturing purposes has not been granted, or has been cancelled or suspended. And whereas His Excellency the Governor did by a Proclamation issued under his hand and the seal of the Colony of New Zealand, bearing date the ninth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-three, delegate unto the Executive Government of the Province of Otago, his powers under section fourteen of the said “Goldfields Act, 1866.” And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto, is land within a proclaimed Goldfield, for which a lease or license for depasturing purposes has not been granted, or has been cancelled or suspended. And whereas certain Regulations have from time to time been made for the depasturing of stock upon the said land described in the Schedule hereto.
