GOVERNMENT NOTICE.

DUNEDIN AND PORT CHALMERS RAILWAY.

IT is hereby notified that, on and after this date,
the following Bye-Law will be strictly enforced:—

"All goods and merchandise, whether bonded or free,
and all luggage having arrived at its destination, shall be
removed by the consignees from the platform and sheds
within twelve working hours; and any free goods, mer-
chandise, or luggage not removed by that time may be
stored at the risk and expense of the consignees or
owners, and will become subject to such charges as may
from time to time be fixed by the railway; and any
bonded goods or merchandise which shall not be removed
within the period aforesaid, shall be subject to the pay-
ment of the sum of two shillings per ton per day until
the removal of the same from the railway premises."

from any of the Registration Offices throughout
the Province; also, at the Superintendent’s Office, Dun-
edin.

PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS.—The following
Regulations of the Education Board respecting
Provincial Scholarships are published for general infor-
mation. School teachers are requested to forward to me,
before the 1st April, 1874, a list containing the names and
ages of intending competitors belonging to their several
schools. For Regulations see Gazette published in De-
cember last.

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND.

APPLICATIONS will be received by Mr John
H. Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons
wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly ad-
vertised.

Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for the
leasing of Education Reserves, can be obtained from Mr
Baker, Invercargill.

WANTED a Teacher for the Side School, South-
bridge (Tokomairiro). Salary Government allow-
ance of £75 per annum with residence and school fees.
Applications to be lodged with the undersigned before
21st February.

WANTED, for Tokomairiro Grammar School.
Duties commence 30th March. Applications
with testimonials, received up to 13th February.
Salary £110 a year.

TENDERS Wanted for the erection of a School-
master’s House at Taieri Beach. Plans and speci-
fications may be seen at Mr. Douglas’ Store, Waikouaiti, or
with the undersigned.

Tenders to be addressed to the Clerk on or before the
14th February, 1874.

The Committee do not bind themselves to accept the
lowest or any tender.

WANTED a Teacher for Pukeuri School, near
Oamaru. Salary, Government allowance of £75 per annum and School Fees. A newly erected
four-roomed residence and five acres of glebe at-
tached. Present attendance of pupils, 40. The
successful applicant must take charge of the school
on the 1st of March. Applications to be sent to the
undersigned not later than the 10th February.

TENDERS WANTED Kuri Bush, for a School-
house to be of wood with brick chimney. Contractor
to find everything. Specifications to be seen at Education
Office, Dunedin, and with Clerk to Board, Kuri Bush.
Tenders to be sent to undersigned on or before Friday,
30th inst., at 12 noon.

The Committee are not bound to accept the lowest or
any tender.

nockburn. Applications with testimonials to
be lodged with the undersigned not later than the
1st of March, 1874. Successful applicant must be
able to take charge of the school on the 1st of April.

WANTED a Teacher for the Side School, Dry-
breed. Salary Government allowance of £75 per
annum with residence and school fees, with £25 added.

CLOSING ROADS.

NOTICE is hereby given, that objections having
been lodged with me against the shutting up of
certain road lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordi-
nance, 1873, situate in the Districts of Greenvale, Glen-
kenich, Halfway Bush, Invercargill, Kakanui, Mount
Stuart, Makarewa, Portobello and Waitaki, a Special
Meeting of the Executive Council will be held in the
Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the 18th
day of February, 1874, at noon, for the purpose of de-
ciding the said objections, when parties interested are in-
vited to be present.

HALF-WAY BUSH DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby given to the Ratepayers in the
Subdivisions of the Waikari and Flagstaff, that
the rates for the period ending June 30th, 1874 for the
Subdivisions have been struck by the Board at 9d. (nine
pence) in the £ sterling for the Waikari; and 1s. (one
shilling) in the £ sterling for Flagstaff.
Notice of objection to assessment to be lodged with
the Clerk during the month, dating from 24th January,
1874.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Hampden Dis-
trict Road Board intend to levy a General District
Rate of one shilling in the pound on the annual value of
all property throughout the district for the current year,
ending 30th June, 1874. Objectors (if any) must lodge
their objections in writing within 30 days from date, at
the house of the Clerk, which will be heard at a special
meeting at the Mechanics’ Institute, Hampden, on the
first Wednesday in March, 1874, at 2 o’clock, p.m.

The Rate Book will lie for inspection at the store of
Mr. Alex. McIntyre, Hampden.
