PROCLAMATION.

Setting apart Lands in the Tiger Hill district for Occupation on Deferred Payments.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the forty-seventh section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, from time to time by Proclamation to be published in the Provincial Gazette, to set apart in any Province, districts or blocks of land, within which licences to occupy land, and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted: And whereas the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of the said Province to set apart the lands specified in the Schedule hereto for alienation on deferred payments.

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by "The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," and of every other power enabling me in that behalf, proclaim, declare and set apart all that district or block of land containing, by admeasurement, 3,464 acres, more or less, situate in the Tiger Hill Riding, being part of block numbered 1K on the map of the said district specified in the Schedule hereto as a district within which licences to occupy lands and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted on and after the 9th March, 1874.

SCHEDULE.

Samuel Henry and others on behalf of the Beef Creek Quartz Company for ten acres of land, more or less, as the same may be found after survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the applicants, situated at Wampur, adjoining old O. P. Q. Company’s claim on south side.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this thirtieth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

CLOSING ROADS.

**NOTICE is hereby given, that objections having been lodged with me against the shutting-up of certain Road Lines included in the Roads Diversion Ordinance 1871, situate in the districts of Enfield, Goodwood, Hyde, Meadow Bank, Otepopo, Serpentine, Saddonwood, Waiareka, and Waikouaiti West, a Special Meeting of the Executive Council will be held in the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Wednesday, the 4th day of February, 1874, at noon, for the purpose of deciding the said objections, when parties interested are invited to be present.

£2 POUNDS ABOLISHED.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the two Pounds described in Gazette of 16th August, 1865, page 183, the one as situate on the north-west corner of the Waipori Township Reserve, and the other situate on the Educational Reserve, numbered 2 of 20, block II, Maungatua district, in the Province of Otago, have been abolished.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed Constable Warren Jonas to be Registrar of Brands for Waikouaiti District.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has appointed the following members of the Police Force to be Inspectors of Slaughterhouses, and to exercise the powers intended to be conferred by the Slaughtering and Inspection of Sheep Ordinance immediately after his name:

  • Constable Hector McLean Steele, Lawrence.
  • Constable Richard Gethin Orbell, Tapanui.
  • Constable James Morkane, Palmerston.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," read to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicants specified in the numbered Schedule unless there shall be valid objections to the granting of such leases lodged with the Warden at Lawrence on or before the 28th day of January, 1874.
