PROCLAMATION

Setting apart Roads to be Main District Roads

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said “Otago Roads Ordinance 1872,” do hereby appoint the following roads situate within or upon the boundary of the Makarora road district aforesaid, to be main district roads (district’s way):—

  1. That line of road starting from a road at Trig. Station G and running south, dividing sections 71, 72, and 73, block IX, New River Hundred, till it joins the Main North road in section 74 of the said block and hundred.

  2. That line of road starting from the Main North road at the south-east corner of section 64, and running through sections 64, 65, and 66, block IX, New River Hundred, till it touches the road line between New River and Winton Hundreds.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this fifteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PROCLAMATION

Setting apart Lands in the Tuapeka District — Occupation on Deferred Payments

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the forty-seventh section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Otago Waste Lands Act 1872,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, from time to time by Proclamation, to be published in the Provincial Gazette, to set apart in any province, district, or blocks of land, within which licences to occupy land, and leases thereof on deferred payments, may be granted. And whereas the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of the said Province to set apart the lands specified in the Schedule hereto for alienation on deferred payments.

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council as aforesaid, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Otago Waste Lands Act 1872,” and of every other power in this behalf enabling me, proclaim, declare, and set apart all that district or block of land, containing by estimation two thousand five hundred and eighty-two (2582) acres, more or less, situate in the Tuapeka district, being block numbered II on the map of the said district, specified in the Schedule hereto as a district, within which licences to occupy land and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted on and after the 20th day of April, 1874.

SCHEDULE

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement two thousand five hundred and eighty-two (2582) acres one (1) rood and thirty-eight (38) poles, more or less, comprising part of run numbered 109, situate in Tuapeka district, being block numbered II on the map of the said district; bounded towards the north-west by the Lawrence and Shag Valley road, commencing at the north-eastern corner of the surveyed block numbered I, and proceeding in a north-easterly direction to the eastern boundary of Tuapeka district seventeen thousand five hundred (17,500) links; thence by a line due south to the road from Macraes to Dunback hill twelve thousand eight hundred (12,800) links; thence along that road to a south-easterly direction to a line due east of the south-eastern corner of the said block I eleven thousand six hundred (11,600) links; thence along that line through Murphy’s flat to block I fourteen thousand eight hundred (14,800) links; thence in a north-westerly direction along the chopped boundary line of the said block I to the starting point.

SCHEDULE

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement two thousand five hundred (2500) acres, more or less, situate in Highlay district, being block numbered II on the map of the said district; bounded towards the north by the Waikouaiti River, to a point due north of Trigonometrical Station E, four thousand nine hundred (4900) links; thence by a line proceeding due south across the said station and extending to the Waitah River, thirty-two thousand two hundred (32,200) links; thence by a line extending due west to the Clutha River, thirty-four thousand eight hundred (34,800) links; thence along the Clutha River six thousand one hundred (6100) links to Cave Creek, the starting point.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this sixteenth day of December, 1873.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION

In conformity to the 29th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 22nd day of January, 1874.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Queenstown.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 13th day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
