I desire the separating fence between sections 42 and 65 be made immediately, and such fence be sod wall, double ditches, three wires and eight posts per chain, bank to be sown with gorse and broom.

NOTICE

The Co-partnership subsisting between John Lawrence Smith and William Smith, as storekeepers, &c., at Evans Flat, near Lawrence, under the name of J. and W. Smith, was dissolved, as of the month of December, 1865; and all funds and effects of the said late firm were transferred to the said William Smith for his own individual use.

Owner unknown; for trespassing on the District Roads, for which no damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound at Lovel’s Flat on Friday, the 19th day of December, 1873, at twelve o’clock noon.

Districts under “The Marriage Act Amendment Act 1858.”

A PROCLAMATION

JAMES FERGUSSON, Governor.

Now therefore I, the Right Honourable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said recited Act, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation so far as relates to the Otepopo and Palmerston districts, and do proclaim and declare that the territory formerly comprised within such districts shall be, and is hereby divided, for the purposes of the said Act, into three districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follows:

Otepopo District

Comprises all that area bounded towards the north by the northern branch of the Kakanui river to its source; thence by a line in a westerly direction to the Kakanui Mountains; towards the east by the Ocean; towards the south-east by the Waianakarua river and its southern branch; and towards the south-west by the Kakanui Mountains.

Hampden District

Comprises all that area bounded towards the north-west by the Waianakarua river and its southern branch; towards the east by the Ocean; and towards the south-west by the Horse Range.

Palmerston District

Comprises all that area bounded towards the north-east by the Otepopo and Hampden Registration Districts; towards the south-east by the Ocean; towards the south-west by Pleasant river, from its outlet to a point due east of Mount Pleasant; towards the south by a straight line extending due east and west from Pleasant river to the north branch of the Waikouaiti river and passing across Mount Pleasant; and towards the west by the Waikouaiti river and the Hyde Registration District.

And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation and take effect on the fifteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
