Road Board and Land Notices




Section 40 of "The Southland Waste Lands Act 1865" is to be read with proviso:—

  1. The fortieth section of "The Southland Waste Lands Act 1865" shall hereafter be read as if the following proviso had been added thereto, and such proviso shall be read as part of the said section accordingly, that is to say—Provided that every occupier of twenty acres of land and not exceeding one hundred acres of land within the hundred shall have one vote, and an additional vote for every one hundred additional acres.

    Certain rights under Southland Waste Lands Act 1865 preserved.

  2. Nothing in this Act contained shall prejudicially affect any pre-emptive right created under "The Southland Waste Lands Act 1865".

Take notice that I desire that the boundary or separating fence between Sections 30 and 31, Block III, Winton Hundred, be made immediately.

The Blueskin District Road Board hereby give notice of their intention to levy a general highway rate of one shilling in the £ for the year ending June 30th, 1874. A meeting of the Board will be held for that purpose on Monday, 17th instant, at Mr Lean’s butcher, Port Chalmers; at Mr Quayle’s store, Blueskin; and at the house of Mr. J. Bolt, Purakanui.

The Kaikorai Road Board have made a general District Rate of 1s in the £ for the year ending 20th March, 1874.

The Waipori Road Board intend to levy a general rate of sixpence in the pound for the year 1873-4. The rate-book lies for inspection at the office of the Board, Lake Waipori. All objections to the valuation, sent to the undersigned in writing within thirty days from date of this notice, will be decided at a special meeting of the Board at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the 29th November, 1873.

The Waikouaiti Road Board having decided to levy a general rate of 1s in the £ throughout the whole district for the year ending 20th March, 1874: Notice is hereby given that the amended rate roll is open for the inspection of ratepayers at the house of the Clerk (and for the convenience of ratepayers a copy of the rate roll can be seen at the Kilmog Hotel), from this date.

Further notice is given that a special meeting of the Board will be held on the 3rd day of December next, at Merton School-house, at 4 o’clock p.m., to hear objections, if any, to valuation or assessment. All objections to be delivered in writing to the Clerk not later than the 2nd of December next.

NOTICE

The Taieri Road Board intend to levy a general rate of sixpence in the £ on all property within their district for the year 1873-74. The rate book lies for inspection with A. Lees, Mosgiel School, for thirty (30) days from this date, 1st November, 1874. All objections must be lodged with the clerk not later than noon on 6th December next.

  • One red and white cow, blotch brand off rump;
  • One strawberry cow, blotch brand off rump;

  • One red and white cow, branded I off ribs, owners unknown, for trespassing on the Hundred, for which 5s each are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound, at Islabank, on Friday, the 21st day of November, 1873, at twelve o’clock noon.

  • One yellow steer, branded M off rump;
  • One red and white steer, no visible brand;

  • One blue steer, branded SR near rump, owners unknown, for trespassing on the Hundred, for which 10s per head are claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound, at Islabank, on Friday, the 21st day of November, 1873, at twelve o’clock noon.

  • One black and white steer, like P on near hip and quarter;
  • One white steer, like M on near and off hip – owners unknown; also,

For trespassing on the Hundred, sale of which was postponed at the request of owners, Messrs A. McLaren and Co., Tokomairiro, for which 9s is claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the public pound, at Palmerston, on Friday, the 21st day of November, 1873, at twelve o’clock noon.
