NOTICE.

I HEREBY give notice that, under the authority of the Harbour Regulations, I order that all vessels on arrival at Dunedin, before occupying a berth at any of the jetties, the masters of the same shall first obtain permission from the Deputy Harbour Master so to do. Any person wilfully disobeying this order shall be prosecuted as the law directs.

IMPOUNDED

On the 8th day of August, 1873, by Duncan M’Lellan Horrigan,

One yellow and white steer, branded C off rump.
One roan heifer, no visible brands.
One red and white heifer, no visible brands.

Owners unknown, for trespassing on Blue Mountain roads, for which one shilling and sixpence each is claimed; and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound at Palmerston on Friday, the 5th day of September, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

IMPOUNDED

On the 9th day of August, 1873, by J. F. Ketching, Esq., Moa Flat station,

One bay mare, small star on forehead, long tail, branded like 8K off ribs, like R near rump, BAc near shoulder, 2 off shoulder.

Owner unknown, for trespassing on Moa Flat station, for which £2 driving expenses is claimed; and in default of being released, the above mare will be sold at the Public Pound at Tapanui on Friday, the 5th day of September, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

IMPOUNDED

On the 14th day of August, 1873, by Peter Grant, farmer, West Taieri,

One chestnut mare, no visible brand, blaze down face, supposed to belong to Alex. M’Intosh, for trespassing on Cray Farm, at West Taieri, for which no damages are claimed; and in default of being released, the above mare will be sold at the Public Pound at West Taieri on Friday, the 5th day of September, 1873, at 12 o’clock noon.

NOTICE.

The Balmoral Road Board hereby give notice to Messrs Boyd Bros. to remove portions of their fence which encroach on the Main District Road between section 14, block VI, and section 2 of 13, block VI, Hillend district, within 90 days from the date hereof, in accordance with clause 174, “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871.”

INVERCARGILL, BLUFF & WINTON RAILWAY

On and after May 1st, 1873, daily trains will run as under:

Leave Winton for Invercargill at 8.15 a.m.
Leave Invercargill for Bluff at 9.45 a.m.
Leave Bluff for Invercargill at 11.45 a.m.
Leave Invercargill for Winton at 2 p.m.
Leave Winton for Invercargill at 4 p.m.
Leave Invercargill for Bluff at 4 p.m.

A train will leave Winton on Saturday evenings at 5.15, returning from Invercargill on Monday mornings at 7. There are no trains on Sunday.

would confer a favour, by giving me notice when any person to whom the ‘Gazette’ is addressed leaves their district; and also, when any person to whom the ‘Gazette’ is addressed cannot be found.

INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously Setting Fire to Three Stacks of Wheat and One Stack of Oats.

£100 REWARD

And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS on the night of Monday, the 10th of March last, three Stacks of Wheat and one Stack of Oats, situate at Shag Valley, the property of Robert Steel, valued at £150, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held at the Royal Hotel, Palmerston, on the 18th of that month, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the Jury returned the following verdict:

“That on the night of Monday, the 10th of March, 1873, three stacks of Wheat and one Stack of Oats, the property of Robert Steel, were maliciously set on fire by some person or persons unknown.”

Notice is hereby given, that a Reward of One Hundred Pounds will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an Accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, as shall give such information as shall lead to a like result.

INCENDIARISM.

Maliciously Setting Fire to a Barn, Stable, &c., containing Hay, Farm Implements, and Two Horses.

£100 REWARD AND A FREE PARDON to an Accomplice.

WHEREAS on the morning of Saturday, the 10th of May last, a weather-board building with zinc roof, 90x20 feet, used as a barn, stable, &c., containing three tons of hay, farming implements, and two horses, situate at One Tree Point, Southland District, the property of Mr Fisher, value £111, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held at Mr Fisher’s residence on the 27th of that month to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the Jury returned the following verdict:

“That a range of buildings and other property, belonging to Mr Fisher, Settler, One Tree Point, was wilfully and maliciously set on fire on the 10th May last, by some person or persons unknown.”

Notice is hereby given that a Reward of One Hundred Pounds will be paid by the Government to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a free pardon to an Accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, as shall give such information as shall lead to a like result.
