To the District Land Officer.
HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that I intend to construct a Water Race for irrigation and industrial purposes, commencing at a point on the Waikirikiri Creek, at the north boundary line of section 69, block II, of the Leaning Rock district, traversing the Waikirikiri Valley, and terminating at the Monte Christo farm, section 59, block I, of said Leaning Rock district.
The length of such Race is three miles or thereabouts, and its intended course south-east.
The mean depth and breadth of such Race is 6 inches by 9 inches, and it is capable of carrying two sluice heads of water; and I intend to construct a dam or reservoir on the course of such Race, on sections 36, 37, block I, Leaning Rock, for the like purpose of irrigation and industry, an area of said Reservoir about 1 ½ acres, and a depth of ten feet by a breadth of 99 feet, and said dam will be capable of containing 600,000 gallons of water.

Any person objecting to the issue of a License to the above-named applicant, must lodge his objection in writing at my office within thirty (30) clear days from the date hereof, and the hearing will take place on the 18th August next, if unopposed.

Warrant appointing additional Polling Places.

To all to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting:
NOW therefore, I, Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do hereby appoint the following places to be additional Polling Places for the Province of Otago for the Election of Superintendent thereof, namely—
The Athenæum, Kakanui South, and
The Schoolhouse, Kakanui.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Sir James Fergusson, Baronet, a Member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
