PROCLAMATION

Appointing certain Roads in the Balmoral Road District to be Main District Roads.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the "Otago Roads Ordinance 1871," it is provided that upon the application of the Road Board of any road district, the Superintendent may from time to time, if it seem fit so to do, by proclamation appoint the whole or any parts of roads, whether within or upon the boundary of such district, shall be main roads for the main district: And whereas the Road Board for the Balmoral road district have applied to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, to appoint the roads hereinafter described to be main district roads:

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue and in exercise of the powers in this behalf vested in me by the said Otago Roads Ordinance 1871, do hereby appoint the following roads, situate within or upon the boundary of the Balmoral road district aforesaid, to be main district roads, that is to say:

  1. All that district road line situate in the Hillend Survey District, bounded towards the north-west by part of sections numbered 71, 72 and 81, block V; towards the east by the Waitahuna River; towards the south by parts of sections numbered 68 and 81, block V, and towards the west by a road line.

  2. All that district road line situate in the Hillend Survey District, bounded towards the north by sections numbered 23, 13, block V, 27, 26, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 17, 16, 15, 14 and 18, block IV, and 67, 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, block III; towards the south-east by a road line; towards the south by sections numbered 19, 18, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57 and 66, block III; and towards the north-west by a road line.

  3. All that district road line situate in the Hillend Survey District, bounded towards the north-west by sections numbered 72, 78, 79, 69, 62, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 23 and 24, block II; towards the north-east by a road line; towards the south-east by sections numbered 25, 22, 32, 33, 36, 37, 68, 69, 80, 72, block III, and towards the south-west by a road line.

  4. All that district road line situate in the Hillend Survey District, bounded towards the north-east by part of section numbered 6, block XI, and sections numbered 14, 15, 21, 20, 19, 13, 12, block III, 4, 7, 15, 14 and 36, block VI, 21, 20; towards the south-west by the Clutha River, and the other part of the town of Balclutha, and sections numbered 41, 29, 28, 9, 26, 25, and 24, block I, 35, 13, 12, 10, 9, and 8, block VI, 22, 19, 17, 16, and 13, block III, and part of 6, block XI; and towards the north by a road line.

  5. All that district road line situate in the Hillend and Waitahuna West Survey District, bounded towards the north by the same road line situate in the Hillend and Waitahuna West Survey District, bounded towards the north by a road line connecting with parts of sections numbered 60 and 61, block III, Waitahuna, and 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 71, 72, 74, 76, 78, and 79, block V, Hillend; towards the south-east by parts of sections numbered 68, 67, 66, 65, 64, and 63, block III, Waitahuna, and section 80, block V, Hillend; towards the south-west by a road line, and parts of sections numbered 77, 75, 73, 81, 70, 68, 67, 66, and 65, block V, Hillend, and section 60, block III, Waitahuna.

  6. All that district road line situate in the Waitahuna Survey District: bounded towards the north-west by parts of sections numbered 1 of 44, 2 of 44, 2 of 4, 1 of 5, 2 of 5, and 2 of 6, block III; towards the north-east by a road line; towards the south-east by other parts of said sections numbered 1 of 44, 2 of 44, 2 of 4, 1 of 5, 2 of 5, and 2 of 6, block III; and towards the south-west by a road line.

  7. All that district road line, situate in the Waitahuna West Survey District: bounded towards the north by the Tuapeka River; towards the east by sections numbered 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 36, 37, 38; towards the south by sections numbered 60, 59, 57, 43, 40, and 39; towards the west by sections numbered 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, block I, and by a road line.

  8. All that district road line situate in the Waitahuna West Survey District: bounded towards the north-east by the boundary of hundreds; towards the south-east by parts of sections numbered 3, 6, and 7, block V, and 44, 43, 41, 40, 22, and 23, block IV; towards the south-west by a road line; and towards the north-west by other parts of said sections numbered 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 45, block III, and 6, 5, and 7, block V.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act, and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases, for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified...
