PROCLAMATION

Exempting the Province of Canterbury from the provisions of a Proclamation made the ninth day of February, 1872, under "The Diseased Cattle Act 1861."

WHEREAS by a Proclamation bearing date the 9th day of February, 1872, given under the hand of James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, under and by virtue of the powers delegated to the said James Macandrew in that behalf by the Governor of New Zealand, certain Colonies, Provinces, and other places therein named were declared to be infected districts within the meaning of "The Diseased Cattle Act 1861," and "The Diseased Cattle Amendment Act 1864:" And whereas it is desirable that the Province of Canterbury, one of the Provinces mentioned or referred to in the said proclamation of the ninth day of February, should no longer be deemed an infected district within the meaning of the said Acts.

Now therefore I, James Macandrew, by virtue of the powers vested in me, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day immediately succeeding the first publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, nothing in the said proclamation of the ninth day of February shall apply to the said Province of Canterbury, and the said last-mentioned Province shall cease to be deemed an infected district within the meaning of the said Acts.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this twenty-fourth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin, the 6th day of May, 1873.

DUNCAN McARTHUR, ESQUIRES,
Members of the Executive Council of the Province of Otago, being also members of the Provincial Council of the said Province.

WHEREAS by proclamation, bearing date the twenty-third day of June, 1868, made by the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, and published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette No. 553, under the hand of the said Superintendent of the Province of Otago, and under the public seal of the said Province certain regulations were made for the depasturing of stock upon the Waste Lands of the Crown within the Otago Gold Field. And whereas by an order in Council, bearing date the sixth day of October next, thereafter published in the said Otago Provincial Government Gazette No. 574, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the said Executive Council of the said Province, did thereby revoke certain of the said regulations so made and published on the said twenty-third day of June last aforesaid, and did make the regulations therein contained as herein afterset, and in addition to the said regulations so made and published as aforesaid: And whereas by an order in Council, bearing date the seventh day of November next thereafter published in the Otago Provincial Government Gazette No. 578, the said Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the said Executive Council of the said Province, did thereby revoke certain of the said regulations so made and published on the said sixth day of October aforesaid, and did make the regulations therein contained and in addition to the said regulations so made and published as aforesaid: And whereas it is expedient to revoke regulations 23 and 24 so made and published as aforesaid, and to make other regulations in lieu thereof: Now, therefore, His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province of Otago, doth, by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the Province of Otago in this behalf, hereby revoke the regulations Nos. 23 and 24 so made as aforesaid, and doth make the following regulations in lieu thereof, and in addition to the said regulations so made and published as aforesaid (that is to say):—

Depasturing Regulations—Tuapeka Gold Field.

  1. The Tuapeka depasturing district shall be limited to all that area described in the first schedule hereto.

  2. The Waitahuna depasturing district shall comprise all that area described in the second schedule hereto.

  3. The Chairman of the Board of Wardens for the time being of the Tuapeka depasturing district, shall be and he is hereby authorised to receive applications for the depasturing of stock within the Waitahuna depasturing district described in the said second schedule hereto, until a Board of Wardens shall be duly elected for the last mentioned district.

  4. From and after the first day of August next, the Board of Wardens for the Tuapeka depasturing district shall consist of five members and not nine members as heretofore.
