For trespassing on Shag Valley Station, for which 2s damages and 4s driving expenses is claimed, and in default of being released, the above cattle will be sold at the Public Pound, at Palmerston, on Friday, the 4th day of July, 1873, at twelve o'clock noon.

BYE-LAWS OF THE COUNCIL OF THE MUNICIPAL TOWN OF PALMERSTON

made in accordance with part 13 of the "Municipal Corporation Act 1867."

In pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in section 181, part 13, of the Municipal Act 1867, the Council of the Town of Palmerston ordain as follows:

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP

Notice is hereby given that the partnership heretofore existing between John Bathgate, James Whitbourn, and Francis William McDonald, in connection with the mining claim known as the "Ophir Reef" was this day dissolved by a Decree of the Warden at Queenstown.

TO THE DISTRICT OFFICER AT QUEENSTOWN

District of Queenstown

June 4th, 1873.

I HEREBY give notice that I intend to construct a water race for irrigation purposes, commencing at a point on the Eight-mile Creek, about 40 or 45 chains from the mouth, and terminating at section 14, block 4, mid Wakatipu District.

The length of such race is eight chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is north and south, and it is to be constructed on what is at present Crown Lands.

The mean depth and breadth of such race is 12 by 20 inches, and will be capable of carrying two sluice heads of water.

Any person objecting to the issue of a license to the above-named applicant must lodge his objection, in writing, at my office, within thirty clear days from the date hereof.

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of May, 1873.

Present:
His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government.

WHEREAS a line of railway has, under the provisions of "The Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870," and other Acts, been constructed by the Government, in the Province of Otago, from the city of Dunedin to the town of Port Chalmers, and which railway is called the Dunedin and Port Chalmers Railway: And whereas an agreement has been made between the Governor and the Superintendent of Otago, whereby the Governor has granted the right to work and maintain the said line of railway to the Superintendent of the said Province: And whereas the Superintendent of the said Province, under the Public Seal of the said Province, and in pursuance of the powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, has made the By-laws, Orders, Rules, and Regulations hereunto annexed, for the following purposes:

  1. For regulating the mode by which, and the speed at which, carriages using the said railway are to be moved or propelled.
  2. For regulating the times of the arrival and departure of any such carriages.
  3. For regulating the loading or unloading of such carriages, and the weights which they are respectively able to carry.
  4. For regulating the receipt and delivery of goods and other things which are to be conveyed upon such carriages.
  5. For preventing the smoking of tobacco and the commission of any other nuisance in or upon such carriages, or in any of the stations or premises occupied by the Superintendent in connection with the said railway.

And generally for regulating the travelling upon or using and working of the said railway.

Now therefore, His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise of all powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby make and declare approval of, allow, and confirm the By-laws, Rules, and Regulations hereinbefore annexed, as the By-laws, Rules, and Regulations to be in force with regard to the said line of railway from Dunedin to Port Chalmers for the purposes aforesaid.

By-laws, Rules, and Regulations made by the Superintendent of the Province of Otago, with the approval of the Governor of New Zealand, acting with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, for regulating the travelling upon and using of the railway between the City of Dunedin and Port Chalmers, in the said Province.
