PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 89th section of the “Gold Fields Act 1866,” and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Fields Acts Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds of objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown, on or before the 27th day of June, 1873.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden’s Office at Queenstown.

Given under my hand, at Dunedin, this 13th day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

SCHEDULE.

Henry Eager, on behalf of the Londonderry Gold Mining Company, for Section 67, Block XI, Skippers creek, containing 10 acres of land.


PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

JAMES MACANDREW, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Otago in this behalf by the “Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872,” and of the powers vested in me as Superintendent of the Province of Otago, hereby proclaim and declare that all that road in the Province of Otago, mentioned and referred to in the said “Roads Diversion Ordinance 1872,” and particularly described in the Schedule hereto, shall, from and after the day of the date hereof, cease to be a public road or thoroughfare, and shall no longer form part of the public roads in the road district in the Province of Otago mentioned in the Schedule to the said Ordinance annexed.

  1. Beaconsfield Road District, now Waikouaiti.

All that area in the Province of Otago containing by admeasurement 2a 3r 32p more or less, being a road line situate in the Waikouaiti Survey District, bounded towards the north by sections numbered 36, 38 and 39, block I, five thousand three hundred and fifty (5350) links more or less; and towards the south by sections links more or less;

NOTICE

Of certain Land in the town of Oamaru, in the Province of Otago, having been set apart as a Rifle Range for the use of the Volunteers.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS the Provincial Council of Otago have, under and by virtue of Section 62 of the “Otago Waste Lands Act 1866,” recommended that the lands hereinafter described should be set apart for a Rifle Range, and it is expedient that the said lands should be reserved for that purpose: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby publish and declare that I have made and dedicated the lands hereinafter described a Reserve for a site for a Rifle Range (that is to say)—

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by admeasurement twelve acres two roods and thirteen poles, more or less, situate in the town of Oamaru, being sections numbered respectively 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15, block LV.; 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, block LVI.; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 13, block LVII.; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13, block LVIII.; and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, block LIX., on the map of the said town.

Dated at Dunedin, this 16th day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

Maliciously Setting Fire to Two Stacks of Hay, a Barn and Chaff House.

WHEREAS on the night of Sunday, the 4th of May instant, two stacks of hay, a barn and chaff house, containing hay, situate at Glenquoich Station, near Athol, Southland District, the property of Joseph Rogers, Esquire, J.P., were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held at the Athol Hotel, Athol, on the 9th instant, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the Jury returned the following verdict—“That the
