ACCEPTED TENDERS

Contract No. 727.—The tender of Matheson Bros. has been accepted for the above contract for the sum of £1413 5s.

Contract Nos. 729 and 730.—The tenders of John Watt and Co. have been accepted for the above contracts for the respective sums of £255 and £228 10s.

Contract No. 732.—The tender of Geo. Cruickshank for the above contract has been accepted for the sum of £1239 18s.

Contract No. 741.—The tender of William Wilson has been accepted for the above contract for the sum of £2345.

TENDERS

Otautau Railway

Tenders will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 24th June, 1873, for Contract No. 742, for construction of three miles of light Railway between Riverton and Otautau.

Plans and Specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at the Court House, Riverton, on and after the 3rd June inst.

Tenders to be indorsed, “Otautau Railway, Tender for Contract No. 742.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

FENCING

WANTED, to let, from four to six miles of fencing, part sawn and part split post and wire; at the Mataura.

WANTED

A Schoolmaster for the Wallace Town School, salary: Government subsidy and school fees, with 2½ acres of land, free house containing five rooms.

Applications with testimonials to be sent in to the Rev. A. Stevens, Chairman of School Committee, on or before the 1st July.

TO SURVEYORS

WANTED, an experienced Surveyor, to take charge of the Aparima and Waihopai Survey District, Southland. Applications, stating qualifications, to be forwarded to the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin; or the Inspector of Surveys, Invercargill. Surveyor will be paid by an average fee on all land purchased in this district.

The following is a description of the areas of survey requiring to be completed:

  • Twenty sections, containing 4897 acres; fees, with travelling expenses added, come to £252 9s.
  • Also three bush reserves, containing 960 acres; survey fees, £91 14s.

In addition to this work, the adjoining district surveyor, who has more work on hand than he can complete, will transfer surveys in the Invercargill survey district: Eleven sections, containing 2594 acres; survey fees, £136 4s 3d: seven Bush Reserves, containing 2252 acres; survey fees, £256 12s 8d. Making a total of surveys to be completed, 10,243 acres; survey fees, £737 0s 8d.


OTAGO LAND ACT 1872

may be obtained from the Government Storekeeper, Dunedin. Price, 2s 6d; if posted, 3s 2d. The usual allowance to the trade. Postage stamps cannot be received in payment.


ROAD BOARD

In future it will not be necessary for Road Boards to prepay advertisements. The accounts will be rendered in January and July for the six preceding months. The charge for each advertisement will be stated in the Gazette.


GAZETTE

Parties who get the ‘Gazette,’ or who may apply for it, should give as part of their address the nearest, or most convenient post town. The ‘Gazette’ has little chance of reaching parties unless that is done.

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND

APPLICATIONS will be received by Mr. John H. Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly advertised.

Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for the Leasing of Education Reserves, can be obtained from Mr. Baker, Invercargill.


SECRETARIES for Road Boards, and others recommending persons for appointments, must give the names of such persons in full.


NOTICE

A GENERAL MEETING of the license holders in Tuturau Hundred will be held at the Court-house, Mataura Bridge, on Wednesday, the 25th inst., at 3 o’clock p.m., to determine the description of stock to be depastured for the current year.

MILL SITE ON WAIMUMU AND MATAURA RIVERS

25 ACRES of the Government Reserve at the Mataura Falls on the Southland side of the Mataura will be open for application to be the Land Office, Invercargill, on the 23rd day of June next. The land is bounded on the south-east by the Waimumu stream and the road reserve on the Mataura; on the south-west by the lignite reserve; on the north-west by a public road; and on the north-east by the Mataura River.
