EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS.

A MEETING of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational Districts of West Taieri and Outram respectively will be held in the Schoolhouse of each district upon Monday, the 9th day of June, 1878, at half-past seven o'clock p.m., for the purpose of electing a School Committee for the remainder of the current year.

EDUCATION RESERVES, SOUTHLAND.

APPLICATIONS will be received by Mr. John H. Baker, Survey Office, Invercargill, from persons wishing to lease any of the Reserves as formerly advertised.

Copies of the Otago Regulations, and conditions for the leasing of Education Reserves, can be obtained from Mr. Baker, Invercargill.

CORRECTIONS.—Page 146, description of West Taieri Educational District, second line—for “west” read “east.”

HAWKES BURY ROAD BOARD.—In Gazette of 21st May, 1873, page 170, line 41 from top of first column, for “House of Mr James Hall,” read “The building commonly known as James’ Hall.”


ABSTRACT FROM PREVIOUS GAZETTES.

IMPOUNDING Notices:—
6th June, Friday noon, a cow, a calf and a steer will be sold at Hampden pound.
6th June, Friday noon, a horse will be sold at Glenkenich pound.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 3rd June, 1878, for:

Contract No. 734.—Construction of light railway between Pukeuri Point and the Karewhenua.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained, at the office of the Engineer of Roads and Works, Dunedin, and at Police Camp, Oamaru.

Tenders to be endorsed “Awamoko Railway Tender for Contract No. 734.”

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

TENDERS are invited for removing land slips and repairing and cleaning out water tables on West Harbour road, No. 1; also repairs on Schlotel’s road, Pine Hill.

Specifications at Valley schoolhouse, and tenders to be left and opened by the Board on Saturday, the 7th June, at 2 p.m.

WANTED, by the Blueskin Road Board, Tenders for the erection of an Office for the Board. The site and specifications will be shown by Mr. Sime, Port Chalmers and Blueskin railway; and tenders can be lodged with any member of the Board, up till noon on Monday, June 9.

TO SURVEYORS.

WANTED, an experienced Surveyor, to take charge of the Aparima and Waiau Survey District, Southland. Applications, stating qualifications, to be forwarded to the Chief Surveyor, Dunedin; or the Inspector of Surveys, Invercargill. Surveyor will be paid by an acreage fee on all land purchased in his district.

The following is a description of the areas of survey requiring to be completed: Twenty sections, containing 4897 acres; survey fees, with travelling expenses added, come to £252 9s. Also three bush reserves, containing 960 acres; survey fees, £91 14s. In addition to this work, the adjoining district surveyor, who has more work on hand than he can complete, will transfer surveys in the Invercargill survey district: eleven sections, containing 2594 acres; survey fees, £136 4s 3d: seven Bush Reserves, containing 2262 acres; survey fees, £256 12s 8d. Making a total of surveys to be completed, 10,343 acres; survey fees, £737 0s 8d.


GAZETTE.—Parties who get the ‘Gazette,’ or who may apply for it, should give as part of their address the nearest, or most convenient post town. The ‘Gazette’ has little chance of reaching parties unless that is done.


WASTE LAND BOARD ADVERTISEMENTS.

WEDNESDAY, 2nd July, 1873.

RUN to be Leased.

NO application having been made by Messrs Fraser and Mclean for a pastoral lease of 5000 acres more or less of country situated between the Manapori and Monowai Lakes, Waiau west, and bounded towards the north by the Manapori Lake, towards the east by the bush and the Hunter Mountains, towards the southward by the bush and the watershed of Monowai Lake, and towards the west by the bush and a range of mountains shown on office maps: Notice is hereby given, that a lease of the said country will be granted to the above applicants unless objections are made to the same before Wednesday, the 2nd day of July next.


NOTICE is hereby given, that sections 40 and 20 of block I, Clarendon district, containing respectively 119a 2r 28p, and 40 acres, sections 1 of 17 and 3, block III, Akatore district, containing respectively 40a and 80a 1r 35p, section 29, block I, Akatore district, containing 53a 1r 1p, section 6, block IX, Kaitangata district, containing 153a 1r, section 2 of 10, block III, Warepa, containing 40a; sections 41, 42, 43, block VI, Clarendon district, containing 89a 2r 39p, 83a 1r 7p, and 77a 0r 39p, will be offered for sale by public auction, at Mr. Capstick’s auction rooms, Tokomairiro, on Monday, the 30th day of June next, at noon, at the upset price of 10s. per acre.


MONDAY, June 2, 1873, at noon.

RUN for Sale, by public Auction, at the Land Office, Invercargill, the pastoral lease for ten years of Otago, known as the Pahi Run, Run 395, Southland, containing about 3800 acres. Delivery at expiration of present lease, in April, 1874, purchaser to pay ten per cent. of first year’s rent on the fall of the hammer. Lease sold subject to right of Government to take a portion for special settlement without compensation; upset price, £1 13s 4d per hundred acres for the first thousand acres and 16s 8d for every hundred acres in addition.

N and after the 23rd of June next, that portion of land originally reserved under Green’s Land Claim Settlement Act, and surveyed in excess, being part of section 11 Aparima Hundred, will be open for application.
