PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE
Now therefore I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby revoke the appointment of the polling places in the districts and subdivisions after-mentioned made by the notice and appointment dated the 18th day of June, 1873, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint the places after-mentioned to be the polling places for the respective districts and subdivisions of districts after-mentioned at which the poll shall be taken at all elections under the “Otago Roads Ordinance 1871,” held for the same until duly altered or varied, of which notice is hereby given to all concerned:—
Districts. Polling Place.
Half-way Bush Wakari School House.
Blueskin Flagstaff, Mr. Hewitt’s house.
Waitati Subdivision, the house Flagstaff.
Waikouaiti Waikouaiti Subdivision, the house of Mr A. Pullar.
Papakaio Subdivision, the house of Mr S. Wilson.

RESERVE FOR COAL FIELD IN THE SOUTH-WEST OTAGO DISTRICT, PROVINCE OF OTAGO.
A block the purchase of Crown Land in the Waitiri, Wairaki district, Tokomairiro District, containing by estimation seventy thousand (70,000) acres, more or less, exclusive of all land sold, reserved, or otherwise appropriated, before this day, be set apart, May 17th, 1873, and bounded on the south by a line from the south-west corner of Wrey’s Bush Town section to Trig. D., on the Waipahi Hill, 43,600 links; and by a line from Trig. D. to the junction of the Molyneux with the Clutha; on the west by the Clutha River; on the north by the Waipahi Road, 34,000 links; on the west by a line from the Owaka to Trig. C., 34,500 links; on the north-west by a line to Pomahaka River, from thence by seeing the Pomahaka River to its junction with the Clutha; thence by the south boundary of Townships to starting point. All the measurements being approximate.

OFFICE is hereby given that His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in him by the 124th section of the “Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871,” has been pleased to appoint the following gentlemen Road Boards for the various District Road Boards as under:—

being the Presbyterian Fast day, in Dunedin, the Provincial Government Offices will not be open.
INCENDIARISM.
Maliciously Setting Fire to Two Stacks of Hay, a Barn and Chaff House.
£200 Reward.
And a Free Pardon to an Accomplice.
WHEREAS on the night of Sunday, the 4th of May instant, Two Stacks of Hay, a Barn and Chaff House, containing Hay, situate at Glenquoich Station, near Athol, Southland District, the property of Joseph Rogers, Esquire, J.P., were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held at the Athol Hotel, Athol, on the 9th instant, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the Jury returned the following verdict:—“That the said fire was caused by some person or persons, to the Jurors unknown, feloniously, wilfully, maliciously, with intent then and there to injure the said Joseph Rogers:” And whereas Mr. Rogers has offered a reward of One Hundred Pounds for the detection of the originator of the fire: Notice is hereby given, that a further sum of One Hundred Pounds (supplemental to that offered by Mr. Rogers), will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an Accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, as shall give such information as shall lead to a like result.

WHEREAS on the night of Monday, the “Toss” of May instant, three Stacks of Wheat and one Stack of Oats, situate at Shag Valley, the property of Robert Seal, valued at £150, were destroyed by fire: And whereas at an inquest held at the Royal Hotel, Palmerston, on the 18th of that month, to inquire as to the origin of the said fire, the Jury returned the following verdict:—“That on the night of Monday, the 12th of May, 1873, three stacks of Wheat and one Stack of Oats, the property of Robert Seal, were maliciously set on fire by some person or persons unknown.” Notice is hereby given, that a reward of One Hundred Pounds will be paid by the Provincial Government of Otago to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused; and His Excellency the Governor will be advised to grant a Free Pardon to an Accomplice, not being the person who actually caused the fire, as shall give such information as shall lead to a like result.

A MEETING of the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational Districts of West Taieri and Outram respectively will be held in the Schoolhouse of each district upon Monday, the 9th day of June, 1873, at half-past seven o’clock p.m.
